RCA VR652HF V.C.R. Problem please help...

By Chandler - usenet poster

I have this vcr for repair, the problem is that more than half of the upper
part of the image have snow and the bottom of the image is perfect. I tried
to adjust the guides with no success. The video heads look good but I ham
not shure. Before changing the video heads I would like to know if a
defective video head could cause that snow just in the upper part of the
image... Or what could cause this. I heard that it might be a bad feeder
tension but it doesn't look bad (Checked it without instruments) but it
doesn't feel to be that bad, i've seen worst.

Any ideas?

Thanks...

The cap I'm thinking of has the value printed on it. This may not even be
the problem, just a wild guess.

Anyway, I think that is to much trouble for a vcr repair, I'm giving it back
to the guy and telling him that's not economical repair.

Thanks again.

then it's not a tape path problem. If the tape path was off, the sound would
also be bad. Are the tape guides going all the way into the V stoppers?
Zenith & JVC used to have problems like this, it was a bad 3.3 Mfd smd cap
on the drum motor PCB. Maybe it's something like that. Maybe a head-amp
problem.  I'm glad it's not me working on it!  Good luck.

I heard it might be a capacitor in the capstan pcb and found that strange
but in the head motor pcb, it's very possible possible. So I have a new
question... I'm not an expert in smd, how do I know the value of the
capacitor, do I need the service manual or is there a way to it's value on
the part (there is nothing wrote on it, no numbers, no color bars...)

Thanks
