Coffe pot not brewing

I have a coffee pot that is a kenmore 81006...when i push start it lights up and everything but no brewing takes place...2 minutes later i get 4 or 5 beeps to tell me it is not working...I tried unplugging it for 5 minutes...i tried pushing power and maybe a second button to see if i could reset the machine...no where in the manual does it give me trouble shooting ideas....i just bought this machine at Kmart and no one knows anything there...can you help? ted
