Question about Intel Motherboard
If this is an integrated sound card try removing the side of the case and note the motherboard type and version which should be clearly visible.

Here is the drivers for XP(you didnt say which windows) for that board from Intel all of them are below,if there is a link above, it is for the Original Disk inccluded with the board in an ISO format, the link is also on the on page

none of the mixer lines are muted are they ?
If you double click on the speaker icon in the system tray or go to audio / sound in control panel and check in there.
Also have you got the speakers / headphones connected to the correct port ?
