Question about Samsung DVD-HR720 DVD Recorder

Power outage - recorder broken?

Hi people,

Last night we had a power outage, after a lamp popped / short circuited. When we got the power back on, the DVD recorder didn't work properly any more. The status is as follows:
- The fan at the back still works, and the display clock is shown. (it does have power). Also, the SCART signal loop from the antenna to the TV does work.
- However, the clock doesn't change, it remains at 18:00. Additionally, the machine doesn't respond to any button (Stand by / On, etc.), nor does it respond to the remote, or the 'reset to factory settings'-button (press >>| for 5 seconds).

Has anybody had the same problem, and if so, what should I do?
I could open it up myself, but I'm not an expert. However, I'd prefer the cheaper solution to the expensive expert ;-)

Thanx for any help in advance!

Hi;

One week ago we had the same problem. And I Send the machine To Technical Service. They Changed the harddrive and reprogrammed the mainboard. Now it plays&record very well. I think U must send it to Samsung Technical Service.

Best Regards.

I have a JNC DVD HDD RECORDER, it doesn't switch

Any authorised DVD appliance repair centre can help. Get a quote first before considering further action, as it might be expensive/uneconomical. Being a HDD recorder, getting it fixed is certainly worth pursuing.

The switchmode power supply within the unit is likely to be the origin of the issue (several blown/short-circuit components).

"could not repair disc" after power outage

If this happened after a power outage and not a hit/drop then it's probably fried the board to the hard disk, you can often get another board from the same model drive and fix it, by swapping the boards over.

Power off after recording

Hi All,

This is a power supply problem.... the MR2920 stanby IC miss behaved, it power off and fail to power back on.

Solution, get pioneer power supply replacement or take the dvd recorder to your local electronic service repair to take a look at the power supply circuit.

Best of luck

the power supply of your dvd is not working this is controlled by a few diodes and a regulator the power cord is attached on to the power supply.if you do not have the experience to repair electronics set have a tech look on your dvd.good luck
