Camcorder will not turn on.

To reset your SDR-H80 camcorder, you will need to follow these steps:

In DCRTRV430 Camcorder, the C:31:42 error message is a Self diagnostic display. This message can be clearly identified by the help of a Sony Authorized service technician. Each of these codes indicates the symptoms and resolutions of the Camcorder. In C:31:42, the issue is with the tape and the tape mechanism.

I suggest that you remove and reinsert the tape to check if it helps. You may also try inserting new tapes in the Camcorder. Please remove the battery and/or power cable, connect, and perform operations from the beginning. You may also try resetting the Camcorder back to factory default after removing the tape.

To Reset the Camcorder, perform the steps below:

? Please open the LCD screen to locate the RESET button.

? To reset the Camcorder, press the RESET button using a sharp-pointed object.

? Please make sure that the Camcorder is turned on while pressing the reset button.

Also, try turning off the Camcorder and remove the battery pack. Then move the 'Power Switch' of the Camcorder to the ON position

for 1 minute. After about 1 minute, move the 'Power Switch' to the OFF position.

Now reinsert the battery, turn on the Camcorder and check whether it is working fine.

Try cleaning the brass tabs on the battery and the point of contact brass in the camcorder. Use a soft brass brush (gun clean kits at Wal-mart carry them in all sizes). I do NOT recommend useing steel wool because steel wool will leave little bits of itself behind and cause shorting out

If you are hooking up via usb, then you will want to have the latest drivers downloaded. Then once drivers are downloaded and installed, then reset computer, turn on camcorder, then plug into usb, then run your media player or whatever program you are using to capture video from camcorder

The camcorder has detected an issue that may require a power reset. To POWER reset the Camcorder,

1. Turn off the camcorder.
2. Remove the battery or disconnect the AC power adapter for 60 seconds.
3. Insert the battery or reconnect the AC adapter.

Follow these steps: * Remove the power source. * After one minute, gently press the RESET button with a nonmetallic pointed item until you feel a "click." This resets the camcorder to the factory settings and erases the date, time, and custom settings. * Wait for at least one minute after resetting the camcorder to attach a power supply.
