SOURCE: I have a Hitachi 53SDX01B.

Hi,

Sorry for the confusion, this unit hasn't t-con board, y and z sustain board and also don't have bulb.
Honestly, this kind of symptoms in this model is quite technical to diagnose because lot of parts are possible for malfunction. You need to have a multimeter to check some parts and voltages to isolate them one by one from fault.

Lets check first the voltages from the CRT neck board(small board connected to the CRT), check first the voltages at EGB2 (Blue CRT).

Pin 1 - 220V Pin 4 - 6.8V

No voltage at pin 4 will result to no picture with sound.

Please let me know the reading to assist you further.

Picture quality is really dark, have cleaned everything, still doesn't work

Presuming you cleaned the lens and the mirror you may have a problem in (yes) the power supply---some of these develop an issue where the filament voltage for the 3 picture tubes goes down as a resistor in the supply from age goes UP in resistance---going to need a meter and a service manual to find that.

If that is beyond you then consider getting a tech or a shop to look at the set.

Let me know if you have questions.

Picture quality is very dark.

Well, that explains a lot----mirror or the lens or even the screen may be coated with grime-----be careful if you attempt to clean that screen, easy to damage and expensive to replace--what about the mirror and the 3 lens?

Crt coolant kit

Replacing the coolant is not going to help a dark picture and is not for a do it yourself repair---it is toxic and dangerous to replace unless qualified.

Need a lower rear board Part #H512264

No one has it in stock--board should be repairable unless lost etc.

You might also contact PTS Electronics who repairs boards and may have one of these rebuilt as well.

If its the board with the RCA jacks it may be fixable.

I need to replace the dust cover on my Hitachi 53SDX01B

the problem here is Hitachi usually if it still has it sells all three screens as a unit---expensive.

You may want to search with GOOGLE the internet as some companies sell replacement "protective" screen replacements.

I have even seen one time someone found a piece of plexi-glass and had it cut to the exact size and thickness for a replacement.

I have an Hitachi 53sdx01B rear projection HD TV. Worked great until yesterday when it seemed like the contrast or brightness got out of whack. Whites appear to be overly bright, to the point that...

The tv have picture look like a bright dull hallow glow to the screen, yes, than the tv CRT tubes coolant chemicals is bad.Tries websites like Tvrepairworld.com,Tvrepairkits.com to buy a coolant kit to do the replacement.

Hitachi 53SDX01B Rear Projection Television - No Picture

i have a 50" r.p. Hitachi, kinda had the same problem, it would go off at different times and i't hit on the back and get it to come back on,but after awlhile i'd have to hit it more and harder to get it back on till it quit, the menu would come on and would show the video 1 ,3 and that in the corner. After paying $75 for a guy to say it wasn't worth fixing i tried myself. Not knowing what i was doing, i checked all wire plug connections. Found 2 that wasn't seated good replugged them and still didn't work then tried the bulbs, just kinda jiggled all 3 one didn't feel the same so just tapped on it alittle and it popped, i guess back into place, anyway turned on the tv and it worked. Had moved it recentlly so i don't know if that is what moved the bulb. Hope this helps, also mine is a '94 model.

Dark picture

use the advanced options page and reset the factor blue and red convergence defaults then do re apply the auto color defaults color at first it seemed very red (which is good because red was the missing factor in the green picture) but after reseting all the color and tints to the normal ranges I then reset the color auto correct again and all seems fine.
