Hold the POWER button down for 10 seconds, the computer will shut off. Then press the POWER button again & it will start up normally.

HOW CAN I REMOVE MY BIOS PASSWORD FOR TOSHIBA PORTEGE A100

Dear Friend,

Removed the memory cover along with the memory, press down the power button for about 30 seconds, place the memory back along with the cover and try to boot up your computer. If none of this work try the link below:

EC/KBC Damaged! (Call your Serviceman.) Serviceman: place maintenance disk in drive. PORTEGE 3440CT

This is a keyboard error. Try pressing all the keys (make sure none are stuck). If this doesn't help you may need to try removing and reinstalling the keyboard (make sure the cable is inserted correctly) or you may need to replace your keyboard.

KEYS 9, O, L, AND . CANNOT BE PRESSED IN LOWER CASE.HOW TO REPAIR?

This sounds like a problem with the keyboard itself. Laptop keyboards are somewhat difficult to repair. However, fortunately they're usually easy to replace.

I found a new keyboard for your pc on ebay at the following address:
http://shop.ebay.com/i.html?_nkw=Toshiba+Satellite+A100-S2311TD+keyboard&_sacat=0&_odkw=Toshiba+Satellite+A100-S2311TD+PC+Notebook+keyboard&_osacat=0&_trksid=p3286.c0.m270.l1313

Generally laptop keyboards can be swapped out by prying off the plastic trim at the top of the keyboard. It's usually just snapped into place. This will typically reveal several screws holding down the keyboard. Remove these screws and carefully lift out the old keyboard. You'll see a ribbon cable coming off the back of the keyboard and plugging into a socket. Remove this cable. Sometime this is done by just pulling up on the connector and sometimes there

1qaz keys on my toshiba satellite a100 laptop are not working. I have changed the keyboard and they still do not work.

A keyboard sends "scan-codes" to the computer,
e.g., "user pressed ALT and has not yet released it,
user now pressed CTRL and has not yet release it,
user now pressed DEL and released it".

So, if you've changed keyboards, then the new keyboard _should_ be sending the correct scan-codes; it must be your computer's motherboard that is not properly interpreting the scan-codes. Ouch!
Replacing the motherboard is _not_ cheap.

I have a toshiba portege a100 laptop mod# ppa10l-000y8. i cannot figure out how to access the memory modules. there is no door on the underside to access and no obvious access under the battery.

What you must do is lift the keyboard out of place, normally its under the keyboard . some times it requires a few screws from under it to be removed then keyboard lifts up with a bit of twiddling. or there is latches along the top keys maybe 3 of them that u must press in to release the keyboard, hope this helps in some way.

Toshiba Laptop Keyboard problem

My Toshiba Satellite A45 S120 keyboard has a problem, some of the keys are not working. When you type it does noting. Sometimes when you start the computer, it continuously types the letter eeeeeeee. You can hit some keys randomly and this will stop, but if you start a program (eg. ms word) the same thing happens.

Toshiba Satellite L15-S104, Model PSL10U-01X02F--A COMPLETE LEMON! 2-14-08 I purchased a Toshiba laptop in May 2005 at Best Buy in Montclair, California and all was good for a short time. Less than a year later I began to have so many problems. I took laptop to Best Buy Geek Squad and the hard drive had to be replaced! I had an extended warranty, so not any cost to me. I continued to have problems with the laptop and in took my laptop back to the Geek Squad in January 2008 and was told the laptop needed a motherboard at the cost of over $600! The warranty had ended. I have called Toshiba apx 4 times and finally given to a case manager and left on hold each time from 10 to 17 minutes! I have left messages and not anyone has returned my call. I have requested that my laptop be replaced. Christine Honea-Takata CHoneaTakata@msn.com Ever since I bought my laptop in December of 2004, I've had nothing but problems. My laptop overheats and shuts down repeatedly, the screen freezes, my sound only works 75% of the time, etc, etc. I have a stack of paperwork from the Geek Squad for numerous repairs - they've replaced everything at least once, some parts multiple times. They finally told me it was a lemon and that they were sending it in so that I could get a new lap top....6 weeks later I hadn't heard anything and called them - the usual waiting on the line, talking to 4 different people, them saying they'll call me back. A few days later I still hadn't heard back from them so I called again - same run around. They then told me that my lap top wasn't a lemon and that there was nothing they could do for me. I bought an extended warranty (3 years) and it's been in every few months - also meaning I'm without my blimmin' lap top for at least 2 weeks at a stretch. After my warranty ran out, I "gave up"...what more could I possibly do? The machine was a lemon from the start but Toshiba won't own up to anything. However, I know there was a class action law suit filed...haven't heard anything about it for the past year or so. I wouldn't touch a Toshiba with a ten foot pole. Terribly disappointed, angry and frustrated. I've lost huge amounts of data and had nothing but problems with customer service.
