Our samsung side by side freezer ( RS21DCSV) is 3 years old and is working fine but has started making a really loud noise ( like a motor running) but this stops with a clatter when you open the fridge door. The twin cooler in the fridge keeps icing over. Could it be one of the fan motors thats causing the problem?
Its a heater cycle problem..the defroster is not working properly. its building up ice in the evaporator that touches the evaporator fan that makes that loud noise but stops when you open a door. it could be either a bad heater, a bad thermo disc or a bad timer.hope i was able to help
no gem 28, there is no motor that pushes the water through. the pipes froze up because its too cold. if the noise continues to knock every now and then, then still its a defrosting heater cycle problem. check also your fridge thermostat controler. try to increase the temperature by lowering the number set on the dial or slider. so that the compressor would cut off and minimize the freezing of the tube.
as the water stopped working again, check again the water line if its frozen. still even you have lowered the thermostat, you could have a defrosting cycle problem . as i have mentioned earlier, check those three things. 1 defrost heater, 2 thermo disc, 3 defrost control, either a mechanical timer or an electronic defrost module. see if there are frost on the walls of the evaporator accumulating...

the water disenser stopped giving water at the same time the noise started, but we realised the water tubes at the bottom of the fridge(inside the fridge) had frozen, so we defrosted the tubes and the water works fine, but the noise still happens every now and then. could a motor have burned out trying to push the water through?
Thanks for the advice drcool299, The noise has now stopped now we have lowered the fridge temerature. All was going well but the water has stopped coming out again. Hopefully will get something sorted. Again, thanks for help, much appreciated.
Water line in freezer door keeps freezing up -- ice flap is in place and closed. Water is getting through the line at disconnect below freezer door. Is there some type of heater in the door that may be not working or could there be a problem with the insulation or routing of the line itself in the door?
