Brother mfc 7420-dark copies

I have a brother mfc 7420 which is printing with very dark backgrounds. I have replaced both the toner and drum units twice. When I check the drum after printing the drum is covered in toner! Any ideas what could be causing this. Many thanks in advance.

i replaced my toner with an off brand and started getting copies that were nearly black. The toner is all over the drum. I replaced the off brand toner with a brother toner and am getting the same results. I clean the drum over and over and still cannot get a readable copy

Brother is very picky about their supplies. You will have to replace the toner with a Brother brand toner. There is no drum cleaning blade in Brother drums. They use opposite charge to clean and they have a brush to catch paper dust. You will simply need to replace the toner with a Brother toner.

Drum end soon brother mfc 7320 printer usb002

My Brother MFC 7420 said drum end soon, so I ordered a new drum. Then I waited for something to go wrong before I replaced it. Basically I was looking for a deterioration in print quality. I waited and waited. I think it was over 3 years. I replaced the toner a few times. While the print quality never really went done, the frequency of other problems finally shot up. When I replaced the drum the problems went away. My advice -- ignore the warning unless you have other problems.

My Brother MFC-7420 Printer always prints black lines and splotches down the left side of my paper. This happens whether I'm scanning or printing from my PC. When I looked at my drum, it appears a

If you are seeing vertical streaks/black lines your primary corona wire is dirty and or the fax scanner may be dirty.
1)To clean the corona wire you take the drum unit and toner cartridge and place it on disposable paper to avoid spilling.
2) Clean the primary corona wire inside the drum unit by sliding the blue tab from right to left several times.
3) Return the blue tab and snap it into the home position.
4) Reinstall the drum unit and toner cartridge.
5) Close the front cover.
Caution: if you do not return the blue tab to the home position it may repeat the black lines.

Brother MFC-7420 printing light after installing new cartridge

It could be an issue with the drum unit either being faulty or the internal drum counter having been reset sometime after a new drum was installed. I would recommend removing the currently installed drum unit and trying it in the second printer you mentioned with the toner cartridges that has been confirmed as working.

If the problem persists it is likely to be a froblem with a fuser or another internal part that is not traditionally a consumable item. In which case I would recommend contacting Brother or a printer technician.

Brother MFC-7420 just started printing a shadow image

Sounds like a bad drum cartridge. Pull the toner/drum cartridge out of the machine and set it down. Press down on a (blue?) tab to release the toner cartridge, and you can lift the toner cartridge out of the drum cartridge. There is a cleaning blade in there - a soft plastic blade that rides against the drum and scrapes off toner that didn't get transferred to the paper. If it gets stuck off the drum surface, images repeat a few inches (one drum circumference) down the page.

A new DR-350 drum unit should fix it. have the machine's power on when replacing it. While the door is open, touch the CLEAR key. The display will read "REPLACE DRUM?" or something like that. Press 1 for Yes.

Did you change the toner cartridge with a new genuine oem cartridge?
Do a report print <settings> page from the menu and check the 'Drum life' Bar graph. If close to, or at 0%, get a new Drum unit
