Backup the phone contents, dont worry about phone settings, Untick (uncheck)it
format the phone with *#7370#
then Use resore fuction in the Pc Suite to recover all the data except the old settings
Use your phone, be sure to check to see if the msg memory in use is phone not memory card.
Hi. I had the same problem with my N72. I havent tried the suggested solution (format the phone) cause I am wondering what will happen to all info stored inside the phone (i.e. contact number) after we format it?

Does the phone ring when you receive an incoming call? If so, press Menu go to Control Panel (or might be the profile is shown in the menu) after control panel, Profile then Options and then Personalize, then, scroll down and again select Message Alert Tone, set the Tone for the message. Also make sure that the volume is turned up. Save the settings and try again. If this doesn't help and you don't hear any ring tone during an incoming call, let me know after checking the sound settings.
Dear Friend jut check the settings in text message whether the message alert tone is still active or not.
Also chek the profile on which phone is active on,there may be an option in the phone which says the message tone settings.
And also check the tone settings on the mobile
Try the following instructions, to personalize your Nokia E50! Profiles Warning: In the offline profile you cannot make or receive any calls, or use other features that require network coverage. Calls still may be possible to the official emergency number programmed into your device. To make calls, you must first activate the phone function by changing profiles. If the device has been locked, enter the lock code.
Select Menu > Tools > Profiles. You can adjust and customize the ringing tones, alert tones, and other device tones for different events, environments, or caller groups. To customize a profile, scroll to the desired profile in the list, and select Options > Personalise. Define the following settings: • Ringing tone — Select a ringing tone from the list, or select Tone downloads to open a bookmark folder containing a list of bookmarks for downloading tones using the browser. To listen to the selected tone, select Play. If you have two alternate phone lines in use, you can specify a ringing tone for each line. • Say caller's name — Activate the text-to-speech ringing tone feature. When someone from your contacts list calls you, the device sounds a ringing tone that is a combination of the spoken name of the contact and the selected ringing tone. • Ringing type — Select how you want the ringing tone to alert. • Ringing volume — Select the volume level of the ringing tone. • Message alert tone — Select a tone for received text messages. HI Qrasengan, 1) Open the menu, and go to profiles. 2) Enter the general option, and click on personalise. 3) after that, several option appears. 4) some of them are ringing tone, ringing type, ringing volume, message alert tone, vibrating alert, etc. 5) Go to message alert tone and change the tone u want to listen when message is received. NOte :Only wav or midi formats are accepted as ringing tone. MP3s are not accepted as ringing tones in NOKIA 6600. U need to install a software "mp3 as ringing tone" or "mp2wmaogg.codec" to make mp3 as ringing tone. =============================================== If u want that software, send me feedback or reply. And I will deliver u as email in ur email id. Sajan(firstname.lastname@example.org)
