Problem for Nokia N72 Cellular Phone

My nokia n72 message alert tone doesnt work

normally if i get a message on the screen says message received and there was a tone but now, the message symbol is small at the top right hand side and no tone can be heard but i could hear the tone when somebody is calling me, can u pls help. thanks alot

Hi. I had the same problem with my N72. I havent tried the suggested solution (format the phone) cause I am wondering what will happen to all info stored inside the phone (i.e. contact number) after we format it?

Format phone memory using

*#7780#

It will ask for phone lock code.By default it will be 12345

backup the phone contents, dont worry about phone settings, Untick (uncheck)it
format the phone with *#7370#
then Use resore fuction in the Pc Suite to recover all the data except the old settings
Use your phone, be sure to check to see if the msg memory in use is phone not memory card.
