Can't get DVD ffrom computer drive

Let's start with the obvious...Did you press the eject/ pull-in button on the drive when the computer was on? Do you have power to the drive when the computer is on (does the light on the front of the drive light up when you first boot up your computer?) Is the front of the drive flush against the computer and not sticking out a little? If the answers to all of the questions is yes, then you have a jammed drive. By the way, does it make any noises when you first turn on the computer or does the light on t only flash with no noises? If you have confirmed everything, now is time to get messy! Turn off the power to your computer and pull off the panal that exposes the motherboard and all of the devices inside. Take the connectors off the drive in question and unscrew the mounting screws. Slide the drive out and put it on the desk or table. Manually pull out the drawer where the CD is and take it out....buy a NEW drive and toss the old one!

How do I get the cd/dvd player into the slots that are blocked

The plastic front panel will have removeable plastic panels the size of the CD/DVD drive, these are held in place by clips, you can push the panel out.
You can also remove plastic front panel, it may be secured by screws or plastic clips. When you remove the plastic front panel the CD/DVD drive slot may be covered with a metal plate, you can remove this plate by bending the metal plate back and forth until it breaks away from the drive bay.

Hi,
Most of the times replacing the faulty capacitors works without any issues (provided that the capacitors have been changed properly)
As for new motherboard, I suggest that you try to boot up the PC with minimum components. First, remove the components such as hard disk, CD/DVD ROM, Graphic card, RAM(s), keyboard, mouse etc. Add 1 RAM, connect VGA cable/ display, modem, mouse and keyboard and Reconnect the power supply (24 Pin as well as 4 pin connectors, Processor Fan and observe if it works. The motherboard LED should lit up and steady. If you suspect that the power switch could be the cause, you can remove the front panel connectors (of power switch, power LED, HDD LED etc). Now, to boot up the PC, you have to short the POWER SWITCH Jumpers/ connectors with a screw driver. (PWR_SW). This step would clarify the functioning of the switch. Also, BIOS cell could be dead and may need replacement. Check the existing RAM on some other PC. Try to replace the RAM and see if it works.

I have an Acer Veritron and CD/DVD stuck. I looked for the tiny hole on the front of the CD drive and there is none. I attempted to go to my computer and right click drive and it is hanging.

Need to replace cd-rom drive, how difficult? dell dimension 3000 pc desktop

It is not difficult to change cd/dvd drive.
Open cpu cabinet.
Then remove icd cable and power cable from cd/dvd drive.
Then remove screws of old cd/dvd drive.
Then you can pull it from cabinet from front side.
Then put your new cd/dvd drive into it's position then lock it with screws.
Then connect ide cable from motherboard and power cable to drive.
Then you can use it.
If you connect to drive with 1 ide cable means if you connect harddrive and cd/dvd drive with 1 cable then set harddrive as master and cd/dvd rom as slave you can set it slave with jumper settings.
It is in back side of cd/dvd drive.
There is instruction how to slave it with jumper.
Let me know if you need further assistance.
Thanks for using FixYa.

Open "My Computer".
Insert a CD-disk into the drive, while holding-down the LEFT-SHIFT key.
Does the label under the CD-icon change?
Remove the CD-disk.
Does the label under the CD-icon change?
Insert a DVD-disk into the drive, while holding-down the LEFT-SHIFT key.
Does the label under the CD-icon change?
Remove the DVD-disk.

If no changes in the icon, after the above, it's time to spend $40 to replace the "dead" drive with a new CD/DVD writer.
