Question about Sony PlayStation 2 (PS2) Console
I purchase a brand new Sony PS2 at Xmas and it's been great. All the games we have bought have worked perfectly, until today. I just purchased a brand new sealed copy of Disney High School Musical Sing It! When I place the disc into the player, I get the following message:
"Insert a PlayStation or PlayStation 2 disc". Do you know WHY the system is not recognising the disc and how I can solve the problem. Many thanks for your help.
Is it only happening for this one disk? If so, I'd say it's probably a bad disk. I've ran into a couple of those before. Probably an error in production, I'd suggest taking it back and exchanging it for another copy.
If it's happening to most or all of your games, then it's probably a sign that the laser is going out. You could try cleaning it - get any CD or DVD cleaning kit and follow the instructions. If that doesn't work, you may need to replace the laser. That's a bit more involved, and more expensive, but I can help you with it if it comes to that.
