Check the horizontal frequency and the electrolytic filters used in it. damm sure there must be filter that make it look like a concave. also check it by decreasing the width from the service mannual of processor. there is a service switch for every processor. that is his internal control unit. may be it is from the processor adjustment. you can set it by increasing or decreasing the frequency or display width-height clock pulse from the processor. to know about that perticular switch you must concern to the company....

I'm trying to improve the picture- seems to be TOO DARK- tv is 10 yr old ser3 935351541- ihave tried color adj etc

Rca Screen Control These sets have screen control adjustment usually located behind the speaker grill(pops off -velcro or press tabs) and convergence front board. There are 6 contols on a black molded assembly about 31/2"x21/2" square. adjust only the top controls marked "Screen R G B" the bottom ones are focus
Method:
-turn on set and let warm up for 30 min at least
-switch tv to blank unused video input channel
-adjust each control in turn until you see the picture glow (with the corresponding color) and slightly back off the control - repeat for each color - this will increase screen brightness and ballance your color
Hope this helped.

My RCA projection TV - the picture only shows red green and yellow and the picture is distorted almost concaved. It overlaps and nothing is clear. All 3 bulbs seem to be working. No idea what is wrong.

Sounds like convergence problems. This TV may not have the standard "STK.." modules. These sets are bad to lose voltage feeding the convergence amplifiers.

Neon in color

sounds like you might need a good cleaning or your tv has contaminated coolant in the picture tubes. or you just might need to adjust the screen control for the picture tubes.

My RCA Tv has a concave picture!!!

Convergence problems. FIrst try going into customer setup and seeing if convergence options are there and if adjustments can be made. unfortunately when the picture is bowed like that it idicates a complete loss of convergence which idicates one of three boards have gone bad.

The six controls you appear to be adjusting are the screen and focus controls for each of the three picture tubes. These usually only have to be adjusted as each picture tube ages or when replaced. You may either have a defective "focus block" i.e. the black box you have been adjusting, or the CRT's themselves may be going bad at this age. You will probably be money ahead to just replace the TV with a new HDTV set. At 13 years old, it shouldn't have much life left in it anyhow.
