It sounds like a stuck button or switch. What happens when you hit the channel DOWN, does it still keep scrolling down?
Is this with or without the remote?
Have you tried it with the remote and or the TV?

Let me know whether you are changing the channels with the remote or the buttons on the tv and I can try to give you a couple more suggestions.

This is a long shot, but give this a try. Try doing a channel set up. Go through menu, and then look for something like SET UP,

CHANNEL set up, and AUTO / Manual.

Select AUTO, and let it scroll through all the numbers until it stops. This will lock in all of the channels that have a strong signal. Then get out of Set up and see if that does anything.

If you have already preformed your set up before, please let me know and we can go a different route to see if I can help solve your problem with the TV.

    Thanks.

Ok, now we are getting somewhere. By telling me that the tv turns on, and off by itself when you hit the power button on the tv, lets me know that there is a good chance that the power switch or channel switch on the TV itself is either worn or the board that the switches are mounted on is either cracked or has a bad solder point.

At this point the only thing you can do is Hit all of the buttons one at a time, and listen for the CLICKING Noise. You should hear a click when you push the button and usually a slight click when you release it. Hit all of the buttons, power, channel up/down/ volume up/down etc and listen for the clicks. (Focus on the Channel UP and the Power Button more.)

What you are trying to do, is to get the switches to the home position (Out position)

If you are successful, then I would ONLY Use the remote control to do anything with the TV and put a piece of paper over the switches on the TV so that nobody else touches them.)

The only other solution would be to get the TV repaired.

Sorry, I couldnt be of any more help.

IM hoping that you can get the TV working with just the Remote control.

    Best Wishes,

    Good luck.

    Mac =)

I have a disney tv and the phillips codes do not work. Does anyone know of different codes besides 0417 and 0115:

Follow the same steps to enter a code but instead of entering code press the channel up button repeatedly until it turns the tv channel and when it changes (dont press up again or else you will have to do it over again). When you get the remote to change channel STOP! and press the enter/ok, or similar button to lock the code in and you should be set. Good luck. If you follow the steps and it doesnt work the first couple of times dont be discouraged, Trust me all universal remotes allow you to set up you universal remote this way i guess they already know people lose the universal remotes instruction manual with all the codes in it! Hope this helps GOOD LUCK too you. Hope this works out for you!!

I am having trouble getting my RCA Universal remote to work with my Sanyo 1080i tv... I need to change the aspect ratio...

you can do this without a remote if you have a menu button on the tv you can fix it from there. if no menu button the press the channel up and down buttons at the same time and the menu will appear. if you can not find the tv code for the remote(IF its a universal remote) then you dont need the code you just follow the steps to enter the code But dont enter a code just keep pressing the channel up button on the remote until it turns the channel on the tv when it does STOP hit the enter/ok or similar button on the remote a your remote will work like new on your tv.Hope this helps you out or atleast gives you an idea.Best of luck to you!!!! Good day

There is no way to accsess the tv video without the remote i have a G E universal remote and need the correct code for this model

most universal remotes let you search through the code base by simply following the steps to enter a code then just keep pressing the channel up button instead of entering the code, just keep hitting the channel up button until it changes the channel on the tv. 9 out of 10 times this will work! GOOD LUCK!!

Hello my mother's rca tv is stuck on channel 91. when i turn it on and use the channel keys on the set, they don't change the channel. i'm trying to get it on channel 3 so she can watch her cable.

Press Setup until you see AutoProgram... press Volume ... you will see the channels start to change. It will cycle to ch 62 or so, then go back and do the lower channels. as soon as it hits 3, quickly press Setup. it will stay on ch3, if not do it again. Once you get it on ch3, press setup until you see Channel Add/Del ... press Volume to add it. Press setup until screen is cleared. Ch /- should now toggle between 3(cable) and 91(a/v in)

Unlockin all the channels

In order to get all the channels u have to have the original remote or a universal remote that has a menu button, an enter button, and directional pad (the directional pad cannot control the volume and channels it must be for navigating). push and hold the menu button, the menu will appear then disappear, once it disappears release the button and enter 9876 then press enter. a different menu will appear and it will b three black lines, one at the top of the screen, one in the middle and one at bottom. the middle line has 3 sections the first part is the item number the second part is the description and the last part is the on/off switch using either a 0 or 1. push down on the directional pad until u get to the 00 factory settings 0 and change the 0 to a 1 with the right button on the directional pad. then scroll up to 20 channel lock 0 (i think its 20, it may be like 22 but it is in the twenties for sure) and change the 0 to a 1. then go back down to the 00 factory settings and change the 1 back to 0 then turn the tv off. when u turn the tv back on it will either automatically ask u to auto tune or u will have to go to auto program to program the channels. there are like 80 different menu items, be sure not to mess with any other ones unless u know what ur doing, u could cause ur tv not to function properly or even be able to turn on.

this problem frustrated me greatly and im very happy to help whoever i can with the solution

Turn tv on, and it scrolls through the channels

Had the same problem, channels would not stop scrolling.
It was as though someone had there finger on the channel up button.
Disconnected the sixth wire, starting with the black wire on the wiring harness for the front buttons, on/off, ch. up/down, vol. up/down, etc.
It works fine, no more unwanted channel surfing!!

TV changes channel changed before all numbers entered in remote

Possibly you're not hitting the numbers fast enough or there is a problem in the delay circuit in the microprocessor. Stargazer
