Casio wk-3700 keyboard started malfunctioning out of no where. One minute it worked, and 5 minutes later when I turned it back on the display screen text was all tweaking out and only crazy fuzzy noise would come out of the speakers. All buttons other than the power button are completely un-responsive. I've tried unplugging it a couple times but same issue occurs when I turn it back on.
Ok, so I tried switching out the power supply method (tried batteries) and still the same problem. When I was taking the batteries out I decided to remove the cover behind the keys. I used compressed air and blew out behind the keys and then proceeded to use the air everywhere I could (inside the flash drive slot, behind the digital screen... everywhere). Lo and behod it worked!! Oh, did I mention I thought positive too.Ok, so I tried switching out the power supply method (tried batteries) and still the same problem. Sometimes companies use the same sequence for all their synths...
Here is one to try: How do you resetcasio keyboard lk-60? This is how. 'Turn keyboard of for 5 seconds then turn it bak on and play"e-flat,g-flat,e-flat,b-flat,g-flat,e-flat,g-flat" then turn keyboard of and unplug and wait 5 minutes then plug back in in,...
Note: It is NOT clear if you need to hold the notes down as you play them or press and release.
Here is another for Casio: From the FILE menu, select INITIALIZE to select the sub menu. Select the SYSTEM option to return the keyboard to its factory settings. Keep in mind that this operation will delete anything that is stored in the keyboard memory. When you see the InitSys? on the screen, select YES. I hope this helps......
I could not find anything specific to the 810.
If these don't work, then the way to reload is via the MIDI port which will accept Sysex commands and data. You can probably find a data dump online for this at the Casio site.. You will of course need to have a MIDI port on your PC.
If that doesn't work, look up the "factory reset" procedure for your particular model via google and follow that procedure. It usually involves holding certain buttons down before and during power up.
One portion of the key scanning matrix has gone bad. First thing is to clean the contacts with 99% isoprophyl alcohol. These USUALLY consist of traces on a circuit board that conductive rubber "pills" under silicone rubber domes are pressed down. Each note usually has two contacts, one closes before the other. This creates "velocity" measurement for the key. IF ONE of the contacts for a key doesn't work, the velocity can detect that the note has actuated, but no release occurs.
This would be on the "STROBE" line for either the first or second contact for THE OCTAVE you have problem with. There are disconnect diodes that prevent sneak paths.
You could have one bad diode, a crack in the circuit board, or a bad connection to the keyswitch board.
I have a Wk-8000 & a CDP-200R, the later is the same as wk-500 but with 88 weighted hammer keys.
Since wk-500 can play SMF (Midi 0 & 1) format directly from a SD card and there is enough polyphony to play anything, I don't find any real reason to convert SMF to any "Casio Format". Just get a 2GB SD card and put your SMF files in the MUSDAT folder for the SD CARD using your PC/MAC.
I had the same problem. You might try the keyboard on good fresh high quality batteries. If this solves the problem, buy another ac power adapter. Good luck!!
