The laptop would only give me three goes to lock the dvd region code, problem was it would not except anything other than region/zone code 1. I can't use the dvd to watch any dvd's as I live in a zone/region 4, so all my dvd's are this zone. Yes I could buy region 1 dvd's but then I can only watch them on the laptop. I have been told you can flash the hard drive? but when researching this find out you can bugger your hard drive if you dont do it right or have the right flash?, Have looked at sites to do this but none seems to work, downloaded some dvd region free program, but that didnt work either, (Or I didnt fiqure it out right). Apart from spending a fortune on paying someone to fix this, are there any other ways?? The laptop dvd is three years old now, and have put up with it for this long, but thought their might be someone out there who knows what to do about this problem.Yes I could trade it and upgrade but money issues are the problem, yes i could sell it but who going to buy old laptop with faulty dvd player, and I kinda like my laptop. I have an Asus PRO31E Series and I cant change my regional codes. I put in an imported DVD and it asked me to change it to the correct zone to allow it to play. So I did. Now I cant change it back and NOTHING will play. Not my VLC player, not my Windows Media, nothing!! What do I do?
Hi, if your DVD-ROM drive is region-free, windows saves the region change setting, if you completely erase the hard drive and reinstall, windows will give you another 5 chances of region change. If your DVD Drive isn't region-free, it saves in a internal EEPROM memory the region changes done and the remaining's, if all permitted region changes are used, the DVD Drive will lock to the last setting. This is near impossible to unlock.
MMM impossible to unlock Yes it is inside your own time and mind set thats true for you !Anyway Region zoning does not protect copyright.!Newzealand is A Region Free regional code Free

My Acer Aspire One AOD150 netbook randomly didn't fully boot one day and hasn't since then. The following message appears on the screen with the default BIOS settings: Intel UND1, PXE-2.1 (build 082)
For Atheros PCIE Ethernet Controller v1.0.0.13 (2008/10/15)
Check cable connection .. !
PXE-M0F: Exiting Intel PXE ROM
No bootable device -- insert boot disk and press any key The default settings has IDE0 : WDC WD1600BEVT-22ZCT0 listed as the first thing to boot. I've tried disabling the Network Boot but it still says no bootable device. I also tried using FN + F10 and Alt + F10 for D2D Recovery, which the BIOS says is enabled on my computer, and the computer showed no change except for a loud, screeching sound when they're held in. The only other option I have heard of that I haven't tried is downloading a upgraded Bios for Acer; but they say it can cause system failure; and I want to make sure I've exhausted all other options before trying that. Please help.
