Dead controller card on ST380011A

I have a dead Seagate Barracuda HDD that needs a controller card. I have already swapped out the controller and it works fine.
I was wondering if you might know where a controller card to match can be sourced.
Drive is a Barracuda 7200.7, 80 Gb, ST380011A

Farhankk360, your problem sound like a internal problem with the reader mechanism.
Try using "FileScavenger", a defunct search may work if the drive is still visible in BIOS.

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).

My seagate barracuda 7200.7 st380011A 80gb when i use it as primary haerd dist operating system is not supporting it but when i use another hard disk as primary and it as secondary it is properly working....

i think you must place a jumper on the back side of the hdd.
If there isn't any jumper, it is a "slave".

When you place a jumper on the correct spot, the hard drive will become the master hdd. The position of the jumper can be found on the hdd itself.

Search for "master" and put the jumper there

Barracuda st380011a controller pcb

For shansterbaby:

The first thing for the computer to find the drive is when it does the very first test on itself, at the POST. It detects all the components. You hear a bip. Then, you can see the result of the POST in the BIOS. If the HDrive is detected, you will find the st380011a in the list of the drive. Once you see the drive in the list, you're okay for the next step, to boot from Windows. Do you use Vista? or XP? For XP, I would open Windows Explorer and see under My Computer if you have another drive (D:, or E:). Click on it.

For meadomuffin, I had some problem with an Internal drive. I download for Seagate website a tool (it is called Seagate tool). I started a check disk from that tool, reformatted and it was then Okay to use it. Windows could detect it. Maybe that is not the answer for your problem. Let me know.
