Weird smell coming from my samsung LN32D403E2DXZA LCD 403 Series TV

Sounds like an electrical burn from a circuit that is almost touching or is touching another circuit. Or it is an exposed insulated power supply wire that is uncovered and arcing to earth itself on the plastic casing. In any instance I recommend you call the store from which you bought it and tell them about it. They should replace it no question. Unless it is past it's warranty. It could start a fire, so please unplug it from the power supply before you go to bed.

That was likely a capacitor that popped. Slight burning smell? You may need to have a technician come out to resolder a connection or two.

I have a Samsung Rear Projection TV HCL5515W. Getting a burning smell after the TV died wth a funny sound. (Red light still comes on). Any clues? One of the posts talks about a blown up capacitor. Any idea...

maybe theres other parts is opened causing to blow up the capacitor. the best is to have to repair your tv to the qualified technician coming from samsung service centers in your area. that problem is easy for them.

Watching tv funny noise like it blew up and turned off, bad burning smell ,now turn on tv starts to power up like normal and then nothing any help much appreciated, tv is a samsung HLP5685 56' inch rear...

The smell and sound are that of a capacitor burst. If you open the back cover you will find wax around a cylindrical object. That's it. Replace it with an exactly the same item.

My samsung tv went out.

There are a few other problems like the ballast or color wheel. Hear any sounds? Smell anything?

First check the convergence board for burning resistor. If convergence alignment is out, then replace convergence IC.

Samsung hdtv HLP5085wx no image. Smelled something burning and sparking, turned off the tv. Tried turning it back on = have sound, NO image!

OMG! Dude, your screen is just plain fried. You don't need a new screen though, You just need a new bulb for it. See, behind the screen is a light bulb (unless your T.V. is plasma screen), sometimes two or three, and that burning smell was the bulb blowing (like when you need to replace a light bulb in a lamp or something). I don't know where you can find a new bulb, but once you replace it everything should be fine.
