Burners will sometimes not light on the GE Gas Stove XL44. Will click maybe once and not light the burner. One time the right side would light, but the left would not.

Most likely the oven ignitor is bad or weak.  You can look at it and see how it compares to the broil ignitor.  If you see a whitish color on the ignitor and if it doesn't fully glow then it needs to be replaced.

This Randy again. I checked out the top of the stove as you suggested and found every thing to be ok. Where might the pilot light be located on this ge xl44? this unit is about 13 to14 years old.

Thanks for your help

SOURCE: Bake ignitor Location

Hi Kurt, welcome to FixYA!
In the diagram below, Part #28 is your ovwn ignitor. (See the red markings to highlight it)
It is located underneath the oven floor, and the floor should come out by removing the two screws located in the bottom rear of the oven cavity. Take out the racks, take out those two screws, and lift the oven bottom up from the rear, then disengage the front lip and lift it out. I hope this is helpful info and thanks for allowing us to be of service to you.

SOURCE: I have two burners that don't ignite

FIRST MAKE SURE YOU TURN OFF THE GAS AT THE MAINS , THEN REMOVE THE ALL BUNERS AND GIVE THE TOP PORTION A GOOD CLEAN WITH WARM SOAPY WATER TO EXPOSE THE SCREWS WHEN LOCATED REMOVE THEM AND THE TOP THEN YOU NEED TO FIND THE IGNITE WIRE FOLLOW IT TO ITS SOURCE CHECKING FOR ANY BREAKS AND ALSO CHECK CONNECTIONS . GOOD LUCK .

Testimonial: "Thanks so much, but now I'm a little scared, plus i don't know where the gas valve is. i think i will have to call a repair man."

Ge Spectra Xl44-three of 4 gas burners will not ignite without a match.

Electric gas igniters sometimes get stuck in one position causing a clicking sound. The clicking sound that you hear is the electric arc that is pulsing from the igniter conductor (wire) to ground (the gas burner). It receives power from the electrical outlet that the stove is plugged into.
Residue from food and sometimes cleaning products may be preventing the igniter from producing a spark (Arc) to the base of the burner. This is a common problem that occurs when the stove has been cleaned or food is allowed to build up. Make sure that the igniter and the burner base are clean and dry. This will help with proper operation. Oven cleaner and a small tooth brush may be used to accomplish this. Another problem with ignition may occur if you have too little (touching) or too much space between the igniter and the base of the burner; it will prevent the burner from igniting. You should only have a little more space than the thickness of a nickel between the burner base and the igniter. A good “blue” arc from the igniter to the burner base is optimal. If this doesn’t work, you may need to replace the electric igniter module. Good luck.

Installed stove, no flames on burners?

It may still have air in the system, turn on one burner on and allow the gas to flow with a lighter in the path of the gas see if the gas lights of at least explodes I mean until it goes Poof, once it does that if it does not light then pull the top off the stove and adjust the vents on the pipes to focus the flames and how much air is blended in with the gas, also turn the burner so that the holes are half way open, I am not sue about your stove but most have an adjustment by turning the burner 1/4 of a turn to change the flame characteristics. if this does not help post here and I will see what else I can find out on your stove. I need the modle of the stove and the regulator number where the gas hooks up.

For the GE XL44 model, where would i find the pilot light? the stove is not working

There is not pilot light on the stove top since the burner is activated by a spark generate by high voltage to a small ceramic disk with a wire protruding from it by the burner.
You have the have AC Power to the stove and you should hear a clicking when you slightly turn on the burner. Once the burner is on fire then turn the burner control to the desired temperature. If the burner will not light after 4 seconds of clicking sounds turn the burner control off and make sure the round gas diffuser on top of the burner is correctly seated on the burner. It should lock in place and is removable for daily cleaning of the stove. Now try the burner control again in the light position for no more than four seconds to see if it lights.
Do you smell gas? Do you hear clicking when slightly turning the burner knob? If yes to both the stove is working and the top of the burner is not seated correctly. If no on either or both you may have a stove, electrical or gas problem.

Stove top pilot light

I have a GE Gas Stove XL44 the stove top buners don't light by themselves without manual lighting. When I turn on the buner knob the buner doesn't click. Also I used my self- cleaning oven for the first time and stopped it before the time was up after that is when the stove top buners wouldn't light by theirselves.
