Asus Lifeframe gives me the error "camera is used by another program", it always worked "randomly" but it is stuck since few days.

    Some of my system info:
    Antivirus AVG 7.5.524
Windows Defender running (seen in Processes)
Windows Vista Service Pack 1 not yet installed (scared about it..)

I have tried previous given solution of exiting the antivirus (AVG in my case), waited some time and camera did not start.
I closed Windows Defender process, waited some time, tried and still getting the same error.

I am convinced it the software is conflicting another application but cannot find the right one :S Does anyone have other suggestions?

    Thanks a lot all!! Kina

The most common "other program" that interferes with camera download process is your antivirus program. Right-click the AV icon on bottom right and select EXIT, then wait 30 seconds or so, and try running the camera application again. Let me know if that was it.

As far as the second question, you can change boot.ini by r-clicking "My Computer" and selecting "properties'. Then select the startup and recovery tab, and you will find a boot.ini editor. Also, here is an MS article that explains how to directly modify boot.ini with notepad/wordpad:

Click start control panel view devices and printers you should see your webcam from there if you are have trouble with your webcam Click start control panel administrative tools computer management device manager scroll down image devices you could see a yellow question mark? right click to reinstall drivers or update driver xp Click start right click on computer select properties device manager scroll to image devices expand right click to update driver in W7 on the home page you should see a search tab just type in what you are looking for IE: webcam name webcam driver you might have to try a few times to get it right software if you dont have the driver you will need to download one here rather doing a driver hunt which can take hours Windows XP/Vista/7/8 It might take some time being a freeware driver solution note: it will find all of your outdated drivers this is a free driver solutions This will automatically search for and find the correct driver you will have to update every driver individually once you update you might be asked whether you want to restart or make a system restore point click no to both of these then continue updating each driver free then restart once all of the drivers have been updated Some webcams and programs require additional software, although that should be installed with the webcam if things are right. But is does not harm to check if your Java, Flash and Quicktime software are installed and up to date. But certainly check your DirectX software, since all video applications, including webcams, use DirectX for video processing. Try downloading the latest DirectX version and install it (Windows XP: DirectX 9.0c - Windows Vista: DirectX 10). Hope this helps.

I have lifeframe 3 on my laptop asus k53b I can take pictures and the cam works fine but it wont save or move any pictures into a folder on my pc, I used the Save as button but that only makes another...

Hi Welcome to Fix Ya. I also use an Asus with Lifeframe. Have you tried copying the photos to your Photo folder in your default picture library?

In other words, if you right click your photo in the lifeframe app and select "copy to" a drop down menu will appear that reads: "Select Folder."

2. Click on your Win Profile name. Then select "My Pictures" folder. The path will read: C:\Users\Your profile name\Pictures

3. You can then make a new folder or you can save it in the Lifeframe folder in a new separate folder.

Hope this helps. Thanks for using fix ya!

Hi my names marley & my lifeframe is built in & i have been having problems with my laptop, & it was working yesterday & now when i try to open it it says life frame 2 has stopped working...

I'm assuming this is for the webcam built in to your monitor? If this is the case, the solution seems to be to plug in the USB cable to provided. There is a USB port in the monitor for the webcam, so plug that in to your computer should be good to go.

I have no idea how to get my Asus Eee PC 1000h 1.3 mega pixel built-in webcam to work

If you use a program such as skype or google talk for example it should detect the camera and allow you to use it. Basically you need a program that calls upon the use of the camera to use it. (It should normally be listed as hardware in device manager and the twain driver be present).
I hope I have been of help but please do not hesitate to ask if you have any further questions.
I appreciate your vote if you appreciate my reply.

Cannot start Asus Lifeframe

Many people are reporting this same problem. If you have downloaded and installed Lifeframe 2, and updated the Bison camera drivers, and it still freezes, you're not alone.

Some people have just uninstalled Lifeframe and use the Windows Camera and Scanner program instead. It's worth a try.

And get some antivirus software!! Use Kaspersky if you don't want to buy McAfee or Norton. It's too dangerous out there to not have anything.
