Won't pick up the paper but the cartridges move up and down the line

Hi,
The same ol' it was working fine then all off a sudden, it didn't seem to pick up the paper. When it did, it jammed. When I pulled the paper out, it then seemed to reset itself and printed ok 2 weeks. Now, I'm back to the same problem, it won't pick up the paper, but makes the rolling noise, moves the cartridges left then right, then left then right, then a very mechanical sort of crunching noise like it is trying to either pick something up or release something under the lights section but can't.

I've already replace the cartridges. And I'm trying to shine a light to see under the lights section in the right, but I can't see what is catching when it makes the noise.

Any ideas?

The machine is not detecting paper in it. If you have paper loaded in the machine, then your paper tray needs to be adjusted so that the rollers can pick up the paper. There is a plastic lever that you press and push up to the end of the bottom of your paper when its loaded in the tray. Remove the paper tray, load it with fresh paper and put it back in. Press the plastic lever and push the paper all the way up to where it is supposed to be to make sure that the rollers can pick it up. Then clean any documents that have not printeed out of your print que. You can find the print que down by your clock on the bottom right side of your screen. Click the arrow and look for a picture of a printer. Right click on top of the printer icon and delete documents that are pending. That should solve your problem.

Hi Chris!
As you described, I didn't see anything would cause the problem. Just suggest that you could give it a clean. Sometime just because you use it for a while(finish a toner cartridge), it get dirty. Unplug the power, and gentl take out the cartridge, paper tray then clean the roll and surround with wet clean paper. Give it a try and see what happen. Please make sure that you do it gentle when put back things.
Hope this will help. Thanks for reading.

We just moved, and now that I've set the printer up in a new location, the paper won't feed at all. I removed the cartridge and wipped the paper feeder with alcohol still no luck

Hi

When you move the printer normally somethings will brake and get stuck. But 1st things 1st did you check if the tray lifts to take the paper? or try to take the paper atleast? if not then you can try to wiggle the printer a little and you should fine some thing being stuck come out and the printer work well again.

Paper catch rollers out of alignment

Hi.
Try this
1.take a sheet of paper ,,fold it length wise 2-3 times to make it thick.insert this into the paper feed tray...move it left and right a couple of times..this clears the obstruction if any..
if this does not work..call lexmark tech support,,,your printer would be replaced if in warranty..
good luck

Hp PSC 1410v All-in-one will not pick up the paper

Remove the paper cassette and the toner cartridge then turn the machine upside down and look at the rubber roller. It SHOULD NOT spin freely.

Roller drive tabs will sometimes break

HP Desk Jet 3320 paper won't feed any more

Hi , I think the belt which moves the cartridge is worn out or it could be something to do with the sensor.check both and should work fine.

Print cradle cannot move error

hi,

this seems to be a hardware problem..... anyway try this...

> unplug the powerchord
> open the rear access door, and check whether there is any paper jammed or any bit of paper or thread stuck inside.... if so remove it
> clean the rollers using a lint free cloth
> close the rear access door
> open the door so that you will get full access to the cartridges...
> move the cartridges to and fro for several times manually with your hand
> close the door
> plug the power chord
> try again to copy multiple pages

thanks and regards

Pictures with horizontal lines

I'm assuming the horizontal lines you're gtting are dark lines, not white omission lines and you are not currently using a cartridge that is leaking (otherwise, this solution is not appropriate). I had the same problem, and after a good deal of frustrating experimentation, found that the problem was caused by the cartridges picking up and retaining ink left on the little absorption pads where they rest. Normally, the pads should accomplish just the opposite effect, but it seems that after a certain amount of use (especially if you've ever had a defective, leaky cartridge), the pads just get too full. As the cartridge moves horizontally across your paper, ink picked up from these pads literally drips on your print. Could appear as lines and also as small smudge dots at the lengthwise travel stops where the cartridge travel reverses.

I could see that it would be fairly easy to remove the pads and either clean or replace them if I were to disassemble the housing of the printer. If you wish to do a really thorough job and you feel confident in your reassembly ability, go for it. I chose a quicker approach and it's solved the problem for the past two months: Open the lid and wait for the cartridges to move over to the left (cartridge replacement position). Then, pull the plug on your printer (or they will move back to the right after a few minutes). Use a small flashlight to locate the two absorbent pads over on the right, where the cartridges normally rest. With paper towels or any other absorbent disposable, blot those pads over and over until you get little or no ink on your paper towel. While you're at it, give the whole area under the lid a decent but gentle cleaning using a soft cloth or swab. Might take a couple of prints to completely eliminate the lines, since you won't be able to clean the underside of the cartridge carrier assembly this way, but this should solve your problem
