Acer Aspire 5003 Touchpad button problems (Hardware)

I have an Aspire 5003, the touchpad buttons are losing the clickyness. For one, the down scroll and left button no longer *click* when pressed. They are starting to require harder pressing to work.

I have the same problem with my acer aspire 5610. The left touchpad is really worn out. I have to press really hard to get it to click and the key itself is very very lose. Can you help?

The problem is that the buttons are not working quite as well anymore. I use a USB mouse at my desk but I kind of need the scroll buttons for mobile use since the side scroll won't work on some programs like Pidgin.

It is not the palm rest as the buttons still work if you press hard enough. Is there any really easy way to get them to work again? The up button still clicks but needs to be pressed harder now.

Tou will usually require the entire palmrest to be replaced if the plastic has snapped. if the plastic is still strong and you just want the "click" back everytime you press it then you will have to replace the inside of the button on the mobo or the button itself. Cheapest option would be to use an external mouse. If not and you dont feel comfortable repairing it yourself then it should be a fairly simple repair for a competent repair guy.

I can't get my Acer 5534 touchpad to scroll up or down. I can move the arrow, but when I go to scroll up or down it wont move and I get a small dark circle under the arrow. It has done it before but...

go to control panel and open mouse option, from here selct the "touchpad" tab,now you should see a line that display the name of the your hardware ( the touchpad name) and below there is a button named "advance configuration" or simply "configuration" or "setting" ecc. Push it.

From the new windows you can control a very large number of options ,not only you can activate scroll in two direction ,but you can also decide the dimension of the touched area interested in the action.

Hi, click on the "Start Button" in the (right, pane) select to open the Control Panel, next open the [Sound and Hardware], category. Next in the "Mouse Properties" (window) click on the "Device Setting" button, once the window open, click on the "Setting" button just below the "highlighted" (Name of the device TouchPad. Try out some of the "items listed" Tapping, Virtual Scrolling... "You must click on the "Apply, OK buttons when finished." Is there any way to adjust the sensetivity of the touchpad on my Acer laptop? I have the Aspire 5517 Series.

The Aspire 5517 use two types of touchpads. You will have to go to the control panel and get into the device manager and scroll down to pointing devices and see which one is installed on your system. If you look in the control pnel and look for the mouse properties, you should see in the mouse properties a setting tab. In the settings tab, you should see a listing for a touchpad. If you highlight that device, and click on the settings button, you will see a list of settings come up, in that list you will see buttons for setting the sensitivity of the touchpad as well as virtual scrolling, etc.

Cursor continually jumps all over when trying to type

Touch pad mouse.
This unit has a "seamless touchpad with four-way integrated scroll button".
Yours is probably faulty, causing the cursor to be random.
Try disabling it and connecting a USB mouse.

4 way scroll button

Go to my computer, right click>properties>hardware tab>device manager, then look down the list for mouse and pointing devices, click the '+' sign and right click on your touchpad listing and select uninstall, and then restart the pc.

In Vista start control panel>classic view, then device manager

The touchpad will be reinstalled and then ready to use again as it should be back to normal

Pointer problems

Try going to control panel, then under hardware and sound, click mouse, then you should see mouse properties. Click on 'Buttons" and be sure the "button configuration" is set for "Synaptics touchpad V.6.2 on PS2 port 3". Let me know if that doesn't do it. You may need to reinstall your Synaptics touchpad.
