Hello and thanks a lot for your time. I have a belkin N wireless router and it is about a year old, give or take. My connection speed to my laptop sits at around 24mbps. It used to run @ 54mbps. Youtube...

Streaming online Video on Wireless connection take a lot of Bandwidth and if the Wireless settings on the router are not proper then the connection dropping issue is tend to happen, check if you have the latest firmware on the Router or not and also try to download some large file, not movies and then check the connection speed, if its near to your satisfaction then we have to check the ping request to the for the average lag and packet lost in the communication.

Laptop not connectiong to wireless network

is there a switch on the laptop either in the power management software or an actual switch on the laptop case (or a button) that turns the wireless on and off? That's probably the problem, not your router.
