My problem is identical... but it's been going on about a week or so... doesn't seem to be any apparent reason why this started all of a sudden.

I have the same problem, but I have the C7250 Photosmart Printer and I get HPPhotoAssistant. Can I use the above steps to rid it of it. I also had Best Buy look at it and they told me they had gotten rid of it at the tune of $200 and it wasn't there. However, I went to open the Solution Center and then it popped up again. I had planned to uninstall and reinstall the printer, but have not done that yet.

  • steve659 Apr 04, 2009

HPProductAssistant pops up when open my desk top and tells me I need to insert a CD so it can fix itself bu finding missing files. I have an HP Laserject 4plus which did not have this annoying software.

When I bought a HP scanner last summer, HPProductAssistant was installed. My virus checker did not like the fact that HP ProductAssistant was constantly trying to secretly access the Internet without permission. Why would my scanner need to access the Internet? I can download the latest driver anytime from numerous trusted websites.

Why would I have this same problem if I am using a dell all-in-one printer?? Same hp product assistant annoying windows pop up constantly - making me crazy! Tried the solution offered by PAWEL777 on March 20 but my computer experience is limited, please advise: I downloaded the installer cleanup utility, did not see an option/how to "save" it on my computer. How exactly would I then find miscuu2.exe ?? Sorry so helpless......

t sounds like you might have "corupt software" Have you tried to un-install and re install the software that ha come with the product? Alsothis glitch that you are faced with needs to be channeled through HP. This way you can get a newer CD sent to you. Hope this helps, Steve

OK, I'll throw my hat in the ring, for what it's worth. This problem with a DeskJet 5440 has been bugging me for months, none of the published solutions worked. The only way I got rid of it in the end was by going into Add/remove Programs and ripping off every HP program related to the printer except the actual device driver. OK, you lose some functionality, but I (like most, I suspect) never used any of that 'window dressing' anyway.

Using the same install disk for your printer that was originally installed may have been interupted to begin with... We just rebooted our computer, making it new, and installed printer yesterday which resulted in this HPProductAssistant pop up. Could not make it go away no matter how we tried. Reading it might be printer related we loaded original printer disk and it located file accessed and thier the download finished and went away. So if your having this problem then try to follow these finishing results.

I have a cd for hp photosmart c3180 for windows xp but every time I try to install it, I keep on getting an installation error message msi.docproc

I had the same issue with my HP printer but a different model #. Try inserting the installation CD and then close any window it pops up, if it pops up. Go to My Computer and then right click on the CD and go to browse. Look for the install file that should called Setup or named something else but ends with .exe and double click it. If you're not seeing it then go to the link below and try downloading and installing the software. Click on the link, click on Driver - Product Installation Software, and click on HP Photosmart Full Feature Software and Driver and follow the promps.

My name is Joyan Mathews. I need latest/updated driver files for my HP 640 C printer to work in Microsoft Windows 7 operating system. From where can I upload the HP 640 c driver for my home use.

The drivers for your HP product are already included in the new Windows 7 operating system! You do not need to download drivers to use the product. Keep reading to learn how to install the drivers that are included in Windows 7 (in-OS drivers) with your HP product. With the Windows 7 driver, the buttons on the product might not function and some of the advanced product features are not available. However, using the workaround procedures in this document, you can still print from a software program. You can also import and view images on a memory card, if your product has a memory card slot.Install the product driver
NOTE: The computer must be connected to the Internet for Windows Update to detect and install your product. When your new computer or operating system is up and running, connect the USB cable from the computer to the back of the HP product, and then press the Power button (c01602202.gif ) to turn it on. Figure 1: Connect the USB cable to the HP product and the computerc01990119.gif 1 - Connect the USB cable to the back of the product 2 - Connect the USB cable to the computer A Your devices are ready to use window might display on the screen. If the window displays and does not close automatically, click Close (c01881082.gif ), to close the window. Refer to the link below for work around procedures.
