Locked Metrologic MS9520-37 (keyboard wedge) after unintentional programming

After entering by error a random code from the Programming guide, page #68 (USB Interface Section) the device has stopped working normally. We don’t have the MX009 serial to USB cable.

Immediately upon power on the following sequence is repeated every two seconds:

  1. green led on, laser initiates scanning
  2. laser stops scanning & green led turns off
  3. red led turns on and single beep
  4. red led turns off

It doesn’t matter if there is or there is not any barcode. or surface in front the scanning window. It there is a barcode (programming or any other type which was recognized before this accident), it’s ignored.
This model has an IR sensor instead of a button.

The PC has difficulties receiving the keypresses from the PS/2 keyboard (which is connected through the scanner)

I will be very happy for any suggestion. Many thanks in advance for your time.

You programmed it for usb interface, but the scanner is keyboard wedge. Try pointing the scanner at the "recall defaults" barcode in the manual as you plug the scanner back in.

Metrologic ms9520 not scanning UPC's

Hello.

The issue is likely due to the programming (or the lack of) of the scan gun. It is entirely possible that the UPC bar code is not configured in your gun as a valid bar code.

You can remedy this by programming the scan gun to recognize the UPC bar code (and any other bar codes you may need to scan). Use the link below to download the programming guides for this scan gun.

Hope this helps!

We are using a Metrologic MS9520 (keyboard wedge) with QuickBooks. It won't scan barcodes provided by Quickbooks, even though it's supposed to be compatible. We've downloaded about every driver, config,...

What I would first is to bring the barcode scanner back to factory defaults. To do this you will need the manual that came with the scanner, on the first page is a bar code that say "enter/exit configuration mode" scan that first and you will hear three beeps, then scan the bar code for "recall defaults" and rescan the bar code to "enter/exit configuration mode" then retry using your scanner, if this does not work bring up "notepad" on your computer and try to scan any bar code form any retail item. This should scan, if it does net then it could be a defective scanner. See page 2 on the manual link

Ls9208 need to press enter after read

If you need to have a carriage return/enter after each bar code scanned, scan the following bar codes (from the Product Reference Guide) in order:
1. <SCAN OPTIONS> (on page 12-9) 2. <DATA> <SUFFIX> (on page 12-10) 3. Enter (on page 12-11)

Incorrect Reading

Try experimenting with the different inter-scan code delays. You can find the programming barcodes in your manual.

I need an owners manual

You can download a manual (06656 User's Guide/Programming Guide) at the DataLogic site. They bought PSC in 2005.
http://www.scanning.datalogic.com/sitefiles/result.aspx?m=Product%20Manual&p=53XX&l=english&d=1&t=search&s=NonCurrent

If your cables are connected between your keyboard and PC, be sure to set up the correct Keyboard Wedge Parameters, beginning on Page 34, to allow connectivity.
I'd start by scannig barcodes "CE" and "ZA" to reset to default wedge values. If that doesn't work, I'd procede to sc an "CF" for PC=AT,PS/2.
Pages 36 & 37 address the Caps Lock issue, where the scanned value is in the wrong upper or lower case.

Have a nice day,
