There is an open circuit on one of the charging components in the printer cartridge, the Canon E40. Replacing the cartridge should solve the issue. Be sure to use a high quality remanufactured cartridge or an original to try to avoid such issues.

Black line through the middle of each copy
Hello sir; There have two ways to check it; 1, if you make copy throught by ADF, then you have to clean a piece narrow glass at the end of plateform, 2, if no. 1 case not apply to you, then you have to change drum cleaning blade.

White line and very, very dirty copies
the nealy black copies sounds like the drum is going, try adjusting the exposure to light, if it comes out with the whole page the same way but just lighter than change drum. White line sounds like there is something on the coronas.
