Over-time, batteries will loose their ablilty to hold a charge. this can also happen if you leave it plugged in for long periods of time (known as over-charging)

only solution is to get a new battery.

Sounds like your battery is a bit faulty, but in saying that, an hour is well... sorta average... depending on what ya doing etc... Check out this link and see if that helps.

Batteries are real swines of things, they react well to constant cycles, but hate hap-hazard charging, also, they pack up what seems real quick. If ya financial ya may like to try a brand new battery. Then make sure ya cycle the battery and set the ACPI setting correctly.

Problem with my washed mp3 player

The problem is that there is some corrosion on the terminals that is draining the battery. Without taking it apart or sending it in, there is nothing that you can do.

97 checvy astro 4.3 6cyl. I replaced battery, Starter and the batt wont hold a charge. Is it possible to check the wiring from the alt to the starter without having to remove the alternator?

Yes, If you have a volt meter, jump and start engine, with engine running you should have approx 13.5 to 14.2volts that would tell me that batt is getting charged when engine is running. you said new batt would not hold a charge, I would be thinking about a parasitic draw(small amount of power) that in time will drain batt. things to look for are glove box lights, under hood lights that dont turn off. one easy way too see if you have a draw is to disconnect one batt cable, now use a regular (12volt non-self powered) test light and touch one end to batt cable and the other to empty batt terminal, with no light switches on and doors closed, this test light should not light and if it does then you have a drain on batt that will kill it say overnight.

Not charging replaced alternater still wont charge

Be sure to charge the battery, otherwise you might smoke the new alternator(not made to charge a dead batt.). Have the batt. load tested. Check batt. cable ends for corrosion.

I have a new battery. For how long should I charge it?

Overnight for the first charge, then let it run empty.

The biggest mistake most people make is to use the camera for an hour or so, and then plug it back into the charger...Batteries have a memory of sorts, and eventually this habit causes the batt to only last for an hour or 2.

Rechargeables need to be stretched out and used to their full potential, inorder to realize their full potential.

After the first full charge-full discharge cycle, let it charge for 4-8 hours (depending on the type, charger, and manufacturer's specs, of course) and then allow it to sit for a few hours after use (to cool down) before putting it on the charger.

Recently purchased the Sony DSC-W290 and I have

how long do you usually charged the batt? to make charge last slightly longer leave the batt inside the charger for an hour after the charger light goes off. if you have a fully charged batt you should be able to take approx. 300 pics or 2.5hrs approx.batt life. for viewing pics it should give you approx. 6800 pics and approx. 5.5 hrs. of course, number of still images and and batt life may vary depending on the camera settings.so if you're zooming in and out, using the flash, going from camera to play mode, turning cam on and off, using other settings and features of the camera, this will cause the batt to drain much faster.also ambient temperature also affects batt life.if it's very cold, the batt drains a bit faster.also, it's recommended that if you're not using the camera to remove the batt.retaining the camera settings, date & time will cause batt to drain even if your not using it. if did this and still you think it's odd that your batt drains quickly and looses charge even if it's fully charge, it might also indicate that what you might be a defective batt. one way to find out is to try using the same type of batt from a friend or a relative that has one to confirm and further isolate issue.anyway, supplied accessories has the same warranty that applies to your camera.so you may send it out and have it replaced if needed.hope this helps.thanks:)
