Question about Whirlpool Duet GHW9150P Front Load Washer

1 Answer

Random electrical problems, sometimes it works beautifully, sometimes not!

The last two loads went thru the washer perfectly. The 3rd load started just fine, but then the F11 and Fdl codes showed up. When I hit the "Pause" button to begin restart, restart has already begun. I know this because the relay clicking to lock the door begins immediately, goes 6 times and then the Fdl code showes. When I started the cycle, the door lock worked fine, the door lock light came on, but for some reason during the cycle, about 33 min into a 40 min wash cycle, the door lock light went off and the F11 & Fdl codes come on. When I push the Pause button the clicking of the relay immediately begins without pushing the Restart button. I have an ohm meter and have checked the various door lock switches and they seem fine. These intermitent electrical problems are driving me nuts!! Fortunately I didn't get rid of our old Kenmore toploader of 20 years, and I learned how to open the Whirlpool door.

I have one wire diagram of the CCU but would like to have all the wire diagrams in the machine. Can you give me a link to download these?

When this machine runs it does a beautiful job, so I would like to keep it.

Master_Tech - I checked all of the above as you suggested with the same result. I took the plactic top off of the CCU to tap the K4 relay as it clicked. The first time I did this there was a small flash within the plastic case of the relay, the door locked and the self-analysis started and ran till it reached C07, where it stopped and an F11 code appeared. I don't know if the flashing of contacts within the K4 relay is natural or not. I do know there is a small arc when contacts close, but maybe not as vivid as what I saw. Also, when the F11 code that was the failure of MCU correspondence. I need to check that out more. Thanks for your help.

F11 = Communication between the Central Control Unit (CCU) and the
Motor Control Unit (MCU) cannot be sent correctly.
.
1. Unplug washer or disconnect power.
2. Check wire harness connections to the MCU, the motor, and
Central Control Unit (CCU).
3. Check the drive system for any worn or failed components.
4. Plug in washer or reconnect power.
5. Verify CCU operation by running a Diagnostic test or any
cycle.
6. Check the MCU by looking for operations of the drive motor.
7. Check the drive motor for powered rotations.
8. Check that the serial harness at the MCU is not mounted
upside down. The wires should be to the left when facing the
MCU connectors.

FDL=
A Door Lock Error occurs if the door cannot be locked. It will try to lock
it six times before displaying the error code.
Le code d’erreur “Verrouillage porte” apparaît s’il n’est pas possible de verrouiller la
porte. Le système effectue six tentatives de verrouillage avant d’afficher le code d’erreur.
■ Door lock mechanism is broken or removed from door.
■ Door switch/lock unit failure.
1. Unplug washer or disconnect power.
2. Check door switch/lock unit.
3. Check the wire harness connections to the door
switch/lock unit and Central Control Unit (CCU).

After working well for six months, my washer now expels water at random points during the wash and rinse cycles.

Check inside the fill hose for debris. There is a screen designed to block debris from getting inside the machine valve. If the screen builds up with debris the water slows down. Sounds like the water is filling too slow. Also the unit and/or the load may not be balanced causing it to stop and drain out. If it's okay then see what lights are blinking when these events occur and post here.

Frigidaire Affinity Front-loading washer wont do anything

Check the wall socket with another electric gadget. Check your washer plug fuse. Finally open up the rear (after taking the washer power cord off the wall of course!) and disconnect and reconnect all wires and connectors one by one. Possible it could just be a loose connection somewhere. Sometimes happens due to vibration.

Click so pl if helped.

Washer Starts, Stops by itself. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Light flash on and off at random.

The flashing lights probably are a fault or error code. Sometimes you can diagnose the problem from them. The first thing I would do with the symptoms that you describe is check all the electrical for loose connections, Make sure all the plugs are fully seated in the control board as well as the components that they go to. Did you have an lightning storm lately. This could have blown the main control board. There is a method to diagnose each one of these that is listed in the service manual. You need to be fairly Savoy with electronics and ohm meters. Your service manual may be taped to the inside of your washer body, my whirlpool was.

Water left pooled inside maytag neptune front loading washer

Possible explanation: Some water is left in the hose going up to the drainpipe b/c the pump can only pump water with water, not air... so when the last bit of water is sucked up, it 'stays' just the other side of the pump exit nozzle and keeps the drain tubefilled. This water gradually leaks thru the drain exit valve and back into the machine, sometimes siphoning standing water in the drain trap with it.

The valve is either electric solenoid or plastic/rubber clapper in a cylinder. Your call whether to fix or not depending on ease and cost. Probably a $20.00 part.

Cheers!

Whirlpool Cabrio code F50

I also had an F50 code on my Cabrio top load washer. Went through all the diagnostics, removed the tub, checked the motor, etc. After a lot of research, purchased a new control board (part #W10189966) and....it works even better than before....no more noise and spins perfectly. Very easy to install (3 screws and one bolt.) Please don't waste your time (like we did) checking all these other areas of the machine. The part was $155. (google it for best price new) and worth it if it will last another year or more...

WAsher not working

FL means 'failed to lock' the door didn't lock, so it didn't complete the cycle. Sometimes it's just because the door didn't shut completely or you may have a bad door latch assembly, or worse case, a bad control board. First try unplugging it for 5 minutes, then try starting another load making sure the door is closed completely, if that doesn't help you'll need to open it up to test the door latch.

CCU works only with box top off & hung by rope

Did you re-solder all 3 of the relays?
if you did.
and don't want to purchase a board you will have to find the micro crack yourself, you need to get to well lighted area and have a microscope or jewelers eyeloupe get a loupe from ebay or a photo supply house if any still exist.
a magnifying lens will likely not help.
the solder will have small cracks around the leg of the component.
with theses units I found the cracks to look like a starburst pattern. just don't give up and don't go soldering all over the board.
you could take it to a tv repair shop or laptop shop as they have the scopes usually. or send it to me.
I have a lab.
