Originally the initial screen had a clear blue background with white lettering and DVDs that were played had good colour.
Now when we turn the system om the screen is a distorted grey with hints of colour surrounding the lettering. When we play a DVD it is equally distorted.
Can you suggest what may be the problem.

HI, Check on thing Go to the SETUP Menu and check is there is any System settings (colour system) on both DVD and TV . Try all the settings available in the colour system setting. As you didn't mentioned anything about Brand and model number of the player or tv. Its not possible to give you the exact solution. Ajin
You've got the cables plugged in wrong at the TV end. The green plug is the luinance conductor or the black and white signal, and yyou have it right, but the red and blue are wrong. Check your connections again and make sure all the connections are amde on the same input (comp1, comp2...), and not crossed over such as green plugged into comp 1, and red and blue plugged into comp 2.
Go to the "Bose" menu screen viewing on your TV (make sure no dvd is in the player) Go to your Video controls and check your output, chances are, if your using the component output your player is set to "S-Video". Should fix the problem. Hope this helps. If it's still not viewing correctly, post a comment and I will help you some more
Hello, imho you must initialize your jvc.
Follow the instructions:
(1) Unplug the power plug.
(2) Insert power plug into outlet while pressing both "PLAY" key and "STANDBY/ON" key of the main body.
"Area code" is indicated at the upper left of display.
(3) Press "PAUSE" key of the main body.
(4) When initialization is completed, "00" and "RDS" is displayed in the FL display.
(5) To release test mode, press "STANDBY/ON" key of the main body.
(6) Now unplug the power plug an insert it again after a 5 seconds.
Be carefully and press no other key then the list above.
Now it will be work fine again.
I hope it would be helpfully.
Are you getting this on all video outputs from the DVD? the yellow analog out + the red/blue/green + the S video?
Did you try connecting a different source? a digital cable TV tuner, or another DVD player?
sometimes DVD players get screwed on some outputs, while the rest stay fine. I have a DVD that has an analog video out that shows an only black and white picture, while the red/blue/green works fine.
