Un-initiated shut down

It will shut down primarily when online for gaming. Sometimes when playing music from hard drive; less so when it's sitting idle.

Any ideas?

thanks!

Hi do you here any noise from the hard drive?
If so you should backup your data and buy a new hard drive, install it on your pc and install windows and all of your programs again. This is because the noise you hear means that your hard drive is getting broken

How do I down load to an external drive and not the main computer

1. First, you need to select the external drive while saving any game.
2. Try to play it from External drive first, if game does not play from external drive then try to play it from the Internal drive.
3. It does not make any difference whether you are playing game from external or interna drive because both the drives will use the computer resources and softwares to play the games.

Good Luck.

Screen keeps going black after computer runs for an hour or so.Thought it was the games my son was playing online at first. What gives?? Video driver??

Could be, but your problem is cooling the notebook when it is running at maximum resources.

try getting a fan cooler or any cooling agent to cool your notebook. The VAIO is as tough as it could be but its system shuts the unit down to prevent more damage.

Well, i was playing World of Warcraft today, and randomly everything started lagging pretty hard, so i restarted my cpu, and now i can't even been on for 5 minutes without the computer freezing up...

if you keep reset on to your CPU this will affect to your Hard Drive. When your online games WOW very lag then do not let that online game on play to your Computer. You know or maybe your Computer are not enough to run this game. Check all the plug in play device which are capable to run this game. Your VGA Compatibility e.i AGP or PCI-E, Memory speed e.i DD1, DD2 & DDR3 and mostly Games Accelerator Programs.
Hope this tip might help you.
Good luck!

Computer ramdomly shutting down

Hi there.
It sounds like the system is overheating.
Open the side panel and remove all the dust that you can see, a clean dry soft paintbrush should do the job, make sure you clean the CPU fan and heatsink (the metal block behind the CPU fan).
Once that's done the computer should stay on all the time but remember to clean the insides of the case periodically to prevent this problem form arising again.

Good luck and thanks for choosing FixYa!!

Computer ''shuts down'' usually only when online.

If you re-formatted, it's probably just a coincidence about I tunes.
I would suspect an overheating problem. Open the side cover and check all the fans for dust, especially yhe CPU fan. You can blow the dust out with a can of compressed air. Try re-seating the RAM while you have the cover off. Good luck!

I play Age of Empires II all the time and it works perfect online, etc with Gamespy.... now I just bought Age of Mythogogy today. I get sound and music in the introduction plus the main screen but nothing...

Need more info. The intro video requires less resources than the game itself, so thats no indication.Without knowing more about your sys, It sounds like your system doesn't conform to the minimum system specs for the game. Or there are apps that are using resources preventing your game to run. Go to www.tweakguides.com.

She won't run

do you still have your restore CD? try to fresh restore it and updates everything on that unit again. Often online gamers send you malicious script that crashes your system.
