Control Panel, Sounds, look at Recording devices (depends on the OS you are using, you didn't mention, Vista, XP, 7,8?), Mic. Your Headphones jack, when in use, will cause the internal sound to disable, depending on OS the mic setup is a bit different but you should find it in sounds, recording devices.
1. Mic might be disabled/muted in sound control panel - Click on the volume control/sound icon to get the properties 2. For recording you might using another device (e.g. modem) 3. Try recording a sound with built in sound recorder (in Windows it is in START-PROGRAMS-ACCESSORIES-ENTERTAINMENT) 4. Get a new external microphone or a headset wit mic
Normally a problem with the mic isn't driver related unless you have no audio as well. What program are you using that the mic is not working with? More than one? Will the mic work in one program and not the other? If its not working in any of them, you may want to make sure the correct device is selected to record from in windows. 1. Start>all programs> accessories > entertainment > volume control 2. In the "master volume" panel select options > properties 3. in the mixer device drop down select the one that says input somewhere in the title 4. The check boxes below should now show you your options of devices to record with. Select the laptops internal mic and try using it again.
If that doesn't work there's most likely an issue with the hardware and you would need to replace the mic if possible.
Have you tried to go to Control Panel>Sound>Recording Tab and be sure that the mic is not disabled? There are also adjustment levels there too. If all else fails try to uninstall through Device Manager and allow the PC to rediscover the mic.
Normally every Lap is coming wit internal mic; so 1- Simply check your mic is mute or not
2 - Check your mic volume
3 - Use sound recorder that comings with windows (just record & play)
4 - Use an external MIC (known as working) with sound recorder
5 - Check in control panel->sound and audio device --> default recording device and Voice recoding device as your system’s built-in audio device (some times it’s changing when we installing b-tooth deice)
6 - Check device manager --> under sound audio controller for any issues
7 – Uninstall & install completely your Audio Device driver with default settings. ** If you didn’t solve your prob; my advice is take your lap to a good technician with component level Repair skills. Thank you & Best Regards Dinu..
