If you have Digital controls first check your fuses. Then if they are OK the blower controller is bad. This part is under the hood in the ductwork.

It sticks out of the firewall and usually is behind the engine where a heater hose comes out of the intake manifold. It has 2 screws and 1 electric connector. The only good thing about the whole deal is "When you can get the electric connector off the old part you can attach it to the new part to see if it works".

You can turn on the blower and the fan will work if the controller was the problem. You do not need to start the engine. Then you finish the repair. Most likely the heater hose will have to be moved temporarily and then you can get to the screws and switch the parts.

My best price was $20 at a Salvage yard. Expect much more for a new part and usually $50 for most used parts.

Heater and airconditioner control on mercery grand marquis

If the fan will not run on ANY speed in your Grand Marquis, the problem is most likely NOT the control switch.

Check for power and ground at the blower motor connector. If power and ground is present, replace the blower motor. Otherwise, the problem is most likely a failed blower speed control module (VERY common). The blower motor speed controller is located in the A/C evaporator housing just below the heater hoses.

Note: It is also common for a bad blower motor to CAUSE the controller to go bad. You MAY have to replace BOTH.

Have a 2001 grand marqui. every time after it rains it won't start. cranks but wont run. been to 3 mechanics who can't solve the problem

car which won't start in the rain usually needs a new set of good spark plug wires, made for the engine not a generic set, and a healthy dose of spray which displaces moisture around all underhood electrical connections; especially if the plug wires are 10 years old. of course your three mechanics have already suggested that so i would take it to a dealer in case they have seen some odd thing about that particular rmodel over the years.

Heater and ac not working, nothing blows out

Sounds like the fuse to the blower motor (squirrel cage fan). Check the owner's manual for the location of the FAN fuse.

Defroster, heater, vents, airconditionig not working when turned on

With the engine off, radio too, turn the key on and try the heater fan on all speeds. No fan, check the fuses. Fan is ok, check the coolant level, if thats fine, then check for a mouse nest in the duct work. Frankster016
