Question about Microsoft Xbox Console

1 Answer

Xbox I have the original xbox console and had a problem of the console not opening. It had a disc inside and would not play or eject. I read the owners manual and it walked me through how to open it. It will now not close. Is this a common problem and is there an easy fix?

I have done nothing to the console since purchasing it new. It was working fine and just stopped. It was in my sons room. He is 9 and had the xbox for 2 years. Nothing was jammed inside to make it not open. Could it just be old?

Bought an Original XBox used. Worked great for about 2 days--played KOTOR 1. On the 3rd day, it froze and read that there was a problem reading the disc. Annoyed that the XBox: -originally played...

Unfortunately this is high likely a disc player issue and it will be cheaper for you to purchase a new (old) system then it would be for you to go through the hassle of repair.

As you have already specified you are aware of the pot tweaking and that is the route that might lead you to a solution if you are to try and do it yourself. Another option though also costing money is to purchase just the disc player from ebay and change it out completely. Again, I find Xbox 360 cheap enough at pawn shops or yard sales that you could easliy find a cheap one.

I have given all my original xbox systems to family members already otherwise I would have gaven you one of mind.

Good luck.

The eject button on the xbox 360 does not work. Using the onscreen we are able to insert a game disc but no matter the game disc, the system cannot read it. We tried inserting discs several times but...

It has nothing to do with the eject button. if it clicks when you press it, then the button is fully functional. If the xbox has been opened up, and worked on before, look for things like severed traces, missing components, etc. But in all likelihood you are suffering from a fairly common hardware failure: a faulty disk drive. call microsoft and pray that youa re still under warranty. if not, then you have either shell out $100+, or open it up and replace the disk drive yourself.

Tray won't close

Use the following steps to close the disc tray on an original Xbox 360 console.
Step 1: Remove the disc from the tray Step 2: Make sure the faceplate is on correctly
The faceplate is the plastic piece on the front of your console.
  • Press firmly around the edges of your faceplate to snap it into place (make sure it is flush with the rest of the console). If the faceplate is not on correctly, the disc tray won't close.
  • If you find that the faceplate is the problem, please contact Xbox Support to order a replacement faceplate.
If this does not resolve your issue, please try step 3. Step 3: Press the eject buttonTry closing the disc tray by pressing the eject button. If the disc tray successfully closes, open the tray and insert a disc. Now try opening and closing the tray with a disc in the tray.
Note Make sure that the disc isn't sticky and doesn't have any labels that could prevent the tray from closing.
If your disc drive still will not close, please try step 4. Step 4: Move the disc drive tray
  1. Gently move the tray up and down, and then from side to side.
  2. Press the eject button on your Xbox 360 console. If your disc drive still will not close, you need to have your console repaired.
  3. Step 5: Request a repair If the disc tray still won't close properly, your Xbox 360 console needs to be repaired.

Xbox 360 will not read discs

Try using different sorts of discs in the xbox, original xbox games, xbox 360 games, dvds, etc, and if nothing reads in the unit, you need to replace the laser assembly. But seeing how the unit is less than a year old, take it back to retailer or send to microsoft. Good Luck.

Original XBOX will not read games or DVDS

original xbox??..

meaning the black one???

or the xbox 360..

if its original xbox, send it for a replacement already

if its 360,
does it say reading and just goes back to open tray??

-check the time and date settings on the console, even the time zone
-check if there is any corrupted file on the hard drive
-try to load a disc without the harddrive,if this works you need to perform system maintainance on the xbox

No, your motherboard and DVD drives have to match.

Doesnt read my discs

This happens to me sometimes as well, but usually it's very infrequent, and happens mostly with old original xbox games.

Basically, the xbox is just temporarily confused. Just eject and reinsert the disc and try again. Usually, the second try always worked for me. If that won't work, simply reboot the xbox with the disc in the drive. Now try to run the game.

Let us know if this works.

Disc wont read

Hi

Are you using a modded Xbox 360 console?, if not then the disc you are trying to play is probably a copied Xbox 360 disc which would not work on an original Xbox 360
