i have the dvd+rw8820 i can play cd's and record but not dvd's just stoped working gateway model mx6214 with the phillips dvd+rw 8820

-   I am facing same problem with Acer Aspire Model-   SBM1

-   DVD ROM RW drive stopped working; ops system is winxp on Toshiba Satellite M45 S-2692. Drive will load and eject disc, but won't recoignize any disc put in drive. Have already removed drive and installed new drive with similar results. Device manager has detected either drive, but still won't work with disc.-   kubicki

what software are you using, try it with a different software,

www.nero.com and download the trial version and see if it fixes it.
