Pull off the knob that turns the burner on/off. Tighten the thin bolts that you see surrounding the stem that the knob covered. Just use your fingers. Put knob back on. Done! One of my knobs needs this repeated every 6 months or so. Joan

How do I remove the top on a Kitchenaid Superba (KGST307GWHO) slide in range? I need to access the igniter electrode that seems to be shot.

Hello Barry;

My name is peter. I am a retired field service appliance technician.

Are you sure that it is the ignitor? It could be the ignitor spark module located behind the gas burner nob.

To determine which one is bad and save money, replace these components with good components on your range that are working.

Go into the following websites. In the sears website plug in you model number to get diagrams and part numbers. Search the internet for less expensive part cost.

I need a oven bulb lens for my Kitchenaid Superba. I think my model is 9752834A. I need two of them. The one is have has B-1 on it.

Unfortunately, 9752834A is not a model number for the KitchenAid Superba. Usually the model number will have 4-5 letters, 3 numbers, 2-3 more letters and then a final number. Look inside the oven door for a plaque with the model number. With the correct model information, you can see if the lens cover is available.

Next, Kitchenaid ovens either have a rectangular (for models that use halogen bulbs) or circular (for models that use an incandescent bulb) lens cover. I've found three lens covers for Kitchenaid products at RepairClinic.com: http://www.repairclinic.com/Shop-For-Parts/a13b121c48/Kitchenaid-Range-Stove-Oven-Lighting-Light-Bulb-Parts . Check if http://www.repairclinic.com/PartDetail/b121p13/Kitchenaid-Range-Stove-Oven-Light-Lens/9781049/748782?ss=a13b121c48&mr=0, http://www.repairclinic.com/PartDetail/b121p13/Kitchenaid-Range-Stove-Oven-Light-Lens/4452163/589998?ss=a13b121c48&mr=0 or http://www.repairclinic.com/PartDetail/b121p13/Kitchenaid-Range-Stove-Oven-Light-Lens/4375318/584498?ss=a13b121c48&mr=0 look like your model. RepairClinic.com does not have the model numbers. However, Appliance Parts Pros list most of the same parts and has a model number compatibility checker, http://www.appliancepartspros.com .

I hope this helps.

Kitchenaid superba gas stove left front burner will not operate unless back left burner is turned on at same time

The switch for that particular burner is bad. It turns out that whenever you switch on 1 burner, they all spark - that's a safety feature. Depending on the model, you may just need to replace the 1 switch, but usually, they are part of a switch string, and you have to replaced the whole string of switches..

Range: Gas burner won't spark or ignite A surface burner igniter switch and a spark module activate the spark electrode when a burner is turned to the "Lite" position on a gas range's cooktop. If the surface burner switch, spark module or wiring in that circuit fails, the spark electrode won't work, and as a result the gas burner won't light. If those components work but the electrode won't spark, the problem could be that the spark electrode is coated with spilled food of is bent or broken. In addition, the electrode won't spark or ignite the burner properly if the ceramic insulation sleeve below the tip of the electrode is cracked or broken. If the gas burner isn't lighting, these repairs may help.

Replace the spark igniter electrode

1396454293470.jpg The spark igniter electrode-also called the surface burner igniter-is an insulated electrode that provides an ignition spark to light a surface gas burner. It sparks and makes a ticking sound when the burner switch is turned to the Lite position. Replace the spark ignition electrode if it fails to spark or if the ceramic insulation sleeve is cracked or chipped. How to Replace a Spark Igniter Electrode in a Gas Range Find This Part

Replace the surface spark module

1377098014986.jpg The surface spark module is in the ignition circuit for the gas surface burners. When a surface burner control knob is turned to the "Lite" position, it provides voltage to the spark electrodes on the gas surface burners. If the surface spark module fails to provide the electrodes with voltage, then it should be replaced. Find This Part

Replace the spark igniter switch

1396454315355.jpg The igniter switch is an electrical switch on the stem of the gas surface burner control valve. This switch completes a circuit to the surface burner spark module, causing the burner igniters to spark when the burner switch is turned to the Lite position. Replace the burner igniter switch if the burners don't spark when you turn the burner control knob to the Lite position or if igniters spark constantly even when the burner knobs are in the Off position.

Spark ignitors won't stop sparking Kitchenaid KDDT2078WH

I hope that you have unplugged the range from the wall... Until this is resolved, you need to remove power from the stove. Use a lighter (long nose type is best) until this is corrected.

To identify the exact cause, you will need to expose (one at a time is ok) each of the contacts assoicated with the burner control knobs.

Each burner control knob has a setting (ignite) that closes a set of relay contacts and allows the igniter transformer to fire all of the spark-gap igniters. Since they all "spark" from any knob, you must isolate the knob that has the short circuit in it.

So do the following: (WITH THE POWER PLUG REMOVED FROM THE WALL....)

1. Expose the back side of a knob.
2. locate the press on wire on that knob.
3. Remove that wire from the know and place it on a piece of paper toweling (to isolate it from any metal).
4. Plug the stove into the wall and listen for sparking.
5. If NO sparking is heard, you have located the bad knob. If spark IS heard, unplug the stove and restore the wire. Move onto the next knob.
6. Repeat steps 1 - 5 until the spark does no appear.
7. Repair or replace that faulty knob assembly.

Let us know of your success.
