I have just puchussed sims 2 for pc and was not told it wont play on windows vista, it keeps telling me i can download a program to play it. Not sure which 1.

When I tried to install The Sims 2 on my pc while using Windows Vista I had a problem. When the installation reached 1% a message appeared saying: "A problem occured when trying to transfer the file 'F:/Support/es/Leeme.txt' from the media. Do you want to retry to copy the file,or cancel the installation?" and the installation couldn't go on because you had only 2 choices, retry or cancel. The problem actually is with the name of the file. In the cd/dvd the file has the name 'Leã©me.txt' but in the installation the file has the name 'Leeme.txt'. What you really have to do is:
1.Open 'My Computer'
2.Right-click on the cd/dvd drive with the game in it and hit Open
3.Copy all the files of the game 4.Go to desktop, right-click and hit New<Folder.Rename the folder Disk 1
5.Paste the files of the game inside the folder
6.Go to Support<es and rename the file 'Leã©me' into 'Leeme'
7.Go to Support<sv and rename the file 'lã¤smig' into 'lasmig'
8.Remove the cd/dvd from the drive
9.Start the installation from Disk 1<AutoRun.exe
The installation should now work properly until the end.
But when you try to run the game a message will appear saying 'This program has known compatibility issues'. Click check for solutions online and then follow the link that appears. This link provides you with a patch for the game!
Hope this information was helpful! Enjoy! icon_biggrin.gif

Sims 2 won't install

the games install cd is dirty, clean it so it can install that file when you install.

clean with a soft material cloth by cleaning centre of cd inside to outside not in a circular motion but from an inside to outside straight strokes, use a little bit of water(dampen the cloth a bit)then after cleaning dry completely with a dry soft cloth to prevent scratching, happy gaming!!

Can't Double Deluxe install past 60%

Then a file must be corrupt on the disk. Go to the store and trade it in for a new one if it isnt too late. Or try cleaning it very good.

Only loading to 70%

When i tried to download the sims 2 pets it would only go to 65% so i tried it 4 times and on the 4th time i took out the cd, wiped it down, and then put it back in and in 10 min it went to 70% and told me to put in the other one and wala it downloaded so you might have to try it over and over but it will download soon.

The disc is bad, you can not use this disc.

Or, may be your drive is dirty, try clean it up using CD drive cleaner.

Also may be the disc is not clean, clean it up using damp clothes to remove any dust or finger print on it.

Sims 2 game

I think that program you have mentioned is corrupt! Don't worry cause this happened to me too! All you have to do is
  1. Go to my documents and select the file with the name Sims 2
  2. Copy and paste that to the desktop
  3. Then re install Sims 2 and then after installing play the game for a little while and then log off
  4. Then go to My documents and copy the Sims 2 folder you copied to the desktop to My documents
  5. Then play your game!
You do this so that your saved games do not get lost even if you reinstall the game!
