The toner cartridge is a completely different unit from the drum unit. The drum unit is replaced separately, and is good for about 25,000 pages. The toner cartridge contains the toner powder. The drum actually fuses the toner powder to the paper.
If the message Change Imaging Unit Magenta displayed refer to imaging unit with contents a developer.The Imaging unit life is 80.000 copies. The imaging units located after front door when is located the waste toner box. If the message M toner end/change the M toner displayed refer to toner cartridge The toner cartridge life 15.000 copies 5% saturation.In full color mode the color saturation is 80% and the color toner life is 6.000-8.000 copies. I think your problems is a toner not the developer.
There may be a clog in the toner supply unit, if you have a small vacuum made for copiers vacuum the toner supply unit and see if it corrects the problem if not you may need a new toner supply unit. Hope this helps
This indicator is for the drum unit, not the toner cartridge. The drum unit is the assermbly that the toner cartridge is inserted into when being replaced. The drum unit is replaced about every 18,000 pages so after about 5 to 10 toners have been replaced.

Open front cover, realese the blue toner handle, pull out toner unit, put toner crg. on top toner unit, so that arrow poits to copier. Press it and then will pop out tape wich you pull out, not to the end, when it does not go further it is OK, push back the plastic cover that got out, this will realese toner crg.Remove empty toner crg, push back toner unit and lift handle.
NOTE: when toner is empty machine guides you how to change toner on lcd display, you just need to look and press next.
Because you need to clean and shake the toner unit. When you say " ive been fixing" does it mean that you now what you are doing or? If yes dismantle the toner unit and vacume it, it may be that toner stucked on "antena" for toner recognitions. If not - call service
most likely its a defective toner unit, they have a chip on them that tells the machine when it was installed, and how much life it has remaining. if the machine doesn't recognise that its a new toner cartridge its probably a defecive unit. you should return the cartridge from where you got it and try another.
