Question about Fuji FinePix F700 Digital Camera
Camera is FinepixF700 and the serial number of the camera is 33L04340. This has only happened today - had no problem with camera since purchased. No idea how to fix this or what it is or whether to ditch camera and buy another one or send it for repair - would it be worth it. It has always been kept in the correct camera case and has not been dropped.
I was really disappointed when my F700 developed a fault last night where the screen showed distorted purple black images when taking a picture. Viewing was fine, and the menu was fine as well. I have tried all day to recover it and was at the point of throwing it away when I decided to change the ISO setting to the highest of 1600. I also turned the flash off and picked the night time setting. When I turned the camera back on it worked!!! I have now set all the setting back to the normal auto, and all is well.

This sounds like it might be a defective CCD imager. If so, Fuji should fix this for you for free. This is regardless of your camera's warranty status. Please check the following two links for more info:
Applicable cameras include:
F303, F410, and F700
