Question about Computers & Internet
I installed a new Segate USB drive today and installed the Drive manager software included on the drive. I then lost any recognition of my two DVD drives by the Windows XP OS. Even when going into Startup (F2) on a re-boot I found they weren't found.
I was going to run a System Restore, but found all previous SR's had been wiped out.
What do I need to do to get these two drives recognized by Windows again? Never had anything like this problem until today.
I had a problem where my newly installed drive was not recognizing blank DVD's or RW-DVDs on Windows XP. I went to My Computer, and right clicked on the device and selected properties. On the "Recording" tab, I checked "Enable CD recording on this device" box. This fixed my problem. Roxio now recognizes that a blank disc is installed, and I can record to this disc.

There may be a conflict with the devices you had already on your system, try the following:
Right click on my computer > manage > double click on disk management > right click on disk1 (removable device) > change drive letter and paths > click on change and assign "D, E, H" for example.
Now you should be able to use that device.

Hi you could try doing this goto controll panel then add hardware devices then let your computer scan for devices when its finished it will give you a list of devices connected to your computer scroll down the list untill you find the devices you want working then select it if you have the disks that came with it put it in and select have disk if not dont check this box then you can let the computer scan for the correct software it will look on the net for this software and should locate and istall it for you failing this i would try to use restore as this should still have the previous settings saved at a previous date let me know how you get on ok
