There is nothing obstructing the tray. When I press the eject button I do not hear anything. The machine displays, NO DISC.

  • buzzball Feb 11, 2008

Hi, I opened the machine, unscrewed the rectangle on top of the dvd tray and popped the tray out of its brackets, then snapped it in again, the tray worked!!! I put the rectangle thing back on and it worked, I put the cover on, it didn't work. I then took cover off, still doesn't work, took off rectangle thing, it still won't work. I was so happy when it worked. There are no loose parts, There is no corrosion. Help

  • buzzball Feb 11, 2008

Hi, I noticed it I lifted the round white thingy that is in the middle of the black rectangle the tray can come out. Now the question is do I not replace the rectangle (it has a yellow caution label : visible and invisible laser radiation when open and interlock defeated avoid exposure to beam.) It sounds like I don't want to leave it out.

Hi,

Did you check to see that there is nothing obstructing the tray from opening? When you press the eject button can you see or hear anything that indicates the tray is trying to eject? Also, is there a disc inside? Sorry for so many questions.

Hi this is a really common problem the problem is going to be one of two things its either going to be the flap has come out of line and not allowing the dvd tray to slide out or the other problem could be the tray itself either coming off the runner slightly in any case you are going to need to remove the dvd case and have a look what the problem is.
1. remove case so you can see the dvd tray this will eliminate the problem with the flap
2. turn dvd on and press eject button on controll if the dvd ray now works then the problem is with the flap itself check the springs and operate the flap by hand to see if its catching or loose or anything fell off like spring.
3. If the dvd tray still dont come out then check along the tray where it runs on the rails check for anything jamming and also look for any loose or parts the have fell off.
4. If their is a dvd in the player then this might have slipped out of line causing the draw to jam check this after you have done this let me know what you find out as this is very common problem then i can assist you further ok speak soon

Hi i take it their is no disk inside if you cant hear the tray trying to move then the motor that operates the tray probably needs replacing this is something you can buy but will require soldering and taking the trap apart to get to the motor and workings.
try pressing the eject button whilst pulling on the tray to open this might free it up try pulling it and pushing it whilst pressing the button.
Also have you tried eject button on control as well as the unit itself let me know ok

hi if you leave the yellow part out and put the dvd player back to gether does it work as the problem sounds likt the tray is out ofline and putting this part in place puts it out of line.
The yellow part might just be a cover that protects the laser beem from hitting someones eye causing damge whatever you do dont look into the laser beam it will damage your eyes but you could try putting it back to gether without yellow part and see if it operates properly that might just protect people from laser if they do take it apart let me know if it works if it does then their should be no problem as it sounds like a protective cover ok

  • paul proctor Feb 11, 2008

Hey just found out it is only for protection but make sure that the laser isnt shining on anything that could cause the laser beem to shine back on itself as this could cause further damage as long as its not on anything that can reflect the laser if it just shines on outer case then that should be fine let me know ok

Katherine, Sounds like the carriage is corroded, inside. Not a Field replacement item. That can happen when/if it's not used too much. Maybe you will consider replacing the whole unit? And that's a VCR/DVD combo, right? What's the model number?

then, if you are pressing the button, and nothing happens, then you have a DVD with a mechanical issue. Sounds like either replace the DVD or the whole unit, whichever comes first, of course.

well..just my opinion..with the mechanicals so off, I'm not surprised that it works sometimes, and sometimes not. These DVD trays are not that elegant, so when they go down, it's sometimes not too pretty. Time for a new one, amigo.

    got backup?

I have a sharp tv/vrc combo without a remote. I'm using a universal remote but wont let me get into the menu. I need to change it from cable to air. Can someone help?

For sharp TV-VCR Combo with universal remore control,

1/ Start by pressing SET & TV at the same time, the LED goes solid RED

2/ Press 009 or whatever code works for your TV.

3/ Confirm that you can now use your control to flip channels..

Then,
4/ Just press the blue button 2-/12. That allows you to change from cable to air and vis-versa. Hope that helps.

Help me with my tv

My TV did the same thing, as alot of other customers did too. You have to fix the VCR to align right because the on/off switch is connected to it somehow. Apparently this is a common problem with this TV. Now I did fix the on/off problem, but at times my TV will just quit working (can't change channels, turn up volume, or anything). After "messing" with it for about thirty minutes I did get it to work again. By messing with it, I mean hitting it slightly on the side or back. It seems like there may be a loose connection. With all of the problems we have had with this TV I am sure I will not buy this brand again. Our TV was manufactured in 2003 which is not old at all. I had an old Sanyo that lasted for twenty years.
