Selphy 510 won't print from computer, print ok from camera ...

Did you download and install the proper Vista driver from Canon's website? If not, I would suggest that. If you have, then try opening the device manager and look for the printer. Reinstall the driver and just direct it to look in the proper folder for it.

Check your printer settings, If your printer is set on draft mode the prints may appear faded washed out, turn up the quality of the printing and this should solve the problem.

Canon mp160 faded picture

Check the Print Setup settings in the application you are printing from, typically found in the File menu, or click the Properties button in the Print dialog window. Check to see the settings for the printer. It may be set to Draft mode or may be set to the wrong type of paper. With inkjet printers it is especially important to select the correct paper type as this determines the quantity of ink delivered. Different paper has different spread of each ink droplet.

Printer

This is a problem with a number or printers still on the market.

I noticed that you made some phone calls and I'm not sure what changes those folks had you make so this may be a repeat of what they had you do.

MAKE SURE YOU UNINSTALL THE CURRENTLY INSTALLED PRINTER SOFTEARE AND THEN DISCONNECT THE PRINTER
FROM THE COMPUTER PRIOR TO INSTALLING THIS SOFTWARE.

Go to Canon's MP160 Downloads Page.

Select Windows Vista from the OS Selection drop down menu.

The first driver listed claims to support Vista and the details do not mention any issues.

Below the driver are also additional pieces of software that are used to interface with the printer to help you print. These are usually automatically installed when you run the installation CD. You may want to install these as well.

Let me know how it goes.
