Question about Acer Aspire 3050-1733 Notebook

Shift button stiff

I have to push down fairly hard to get my shift button (on the left side of my computer) to work. I tried vacuuming my keyboard but that didn't do anything. What is the issue? Do I have to send it in?

I would replace the keyboard. They are fairly inexpensive from that auction site flea bay and a video on how to do it is available on utube. Search for your make and model with the words 'replace keyboard' after it in the search box.

How do I remove the hard drive from a HP XH485 Pavilion Notebook

I think the HDD is under the keyboard on that model (doh!), which is probably why you're asking. If you can't find it under any of the access panels on the bottom, you're in for a bit more work...

1: Close the laptop and view it from the rear where all of the ports are. There are 2 hinges for the screen. Remove the 2 screws that are in those hinges. They are only holding a plastic cover in place.

2: With the screws removed, open the laptop and open completely, so the laptop is laying flat open. At the top of the keyboard is the button panel and removes fairly easily. Use a small and thin flat tip screwdriver to carefully lift up this panel. I started from the right side as it is easier to pop off. The left side is a little more stiff. Once you get most of the right side up, gently pull to the right and wiggle carefully top pull the panel completely off.

3: The set screws for the keyboard are now exposed. There are 4 of them. Remove them and you should easily be able to lift the top of the keyboard and fold it gently towards the front. Do not pull or disconnect the keyboard.

4: The Hard Drive should be completely visible now. There are 4 screws holding the caddy down. Loosen these screws completely. They should not come out. After the screws are loose, pull on the strap at the front of the caddy. Pull straight up firmly and carefully. You may want to jiggle it slightly to work it up, and be prepared for it to pop out on you. It can be in there pretty stiff, and you don't want to damage any thing.

5: If you need to, remove the drive from the caddy, take the connector on the drive pins off first, and then remove the 4 screws attaching the caddy to the HDD.

Closing it up should follow smoothly in reverse order.

Will not load up or take charge

Try removing the AC power, removing the battery and then holding down the power button for five seconds. On the MacBook Air, press (left) Shift-Control-Option along with the power button once. Note: You must use the keys on the left side of the MacBook Air keyboard.
If that doesnt work try this:
  1. Shut down the computer.
  2. Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command, Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.
  3. Turn on the computer.
  4. Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys. You must press this key combination before the gray screen appears.
  5. Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
  6. Release the keys.

Dropped wireless mouse and wheel shifted & buttons hard to push

I had a similar problem and was able to fix it. The left mousebutton was clickable, but needed extra force.

After opening the mouse I found that at the side of the mousewheel there was notch pointing upwards, preventing free movement of the left mousebutton. I was able to rotate the ring with the notch back into horizontal position after gently pushing the housing surrounding the mouse wheel wider.

I have a Casio Privia PX-320. The left side keys

Check that the front of the keys is not hitting the lower plastic case front. If they hit it, then you need to disassemble the case partly and see what has shifted. It is ALSO possible that something has caaaused the aftertouch sensor to move out of position and it is hitting the keys early. ANY of these conditions needs to be addressed before damage is done.

The page view on my HP computer is rotated sideways...the curser, the infor on the screen etc is a quater upside down...is there a setting to fix this?

Some videocards have keyboard shortcuts that can rotate your view. They normal consist of Alt Ctrl Shift and Left Right Up and down.

So start pushing some buttons.

Like Alt+Ctrl+Left
Shift+Ctrl+right
Shift+Right

and so on.
