Question about ViewSonic VX924 19" LCD Monitor

2 Answers

My VX924 problem (basically the same as many other peoples)

My screen just all of a sudden started switching itself on and off.

When it is on it looks normal but it stays on for less than a second and then switches off again for a second. it keeps doing that repeadately.

Ive seen here many other people have the problem so a solution would be awsome please thanx.

Yes, common problem on this model is one or two vented capacitors on the main board.

If it's a bad light, the unit would not turn itself back on again. The capacitor is, I believe, a 1000uF at 25V. There are two of them, but usually only one goes bad.

Look over the entire power board and see if there are any domed (vented) capacitors anywhere else and replace as required.

This is the way how to examine where the problem is. You have to check that you can see the image on screen by shining a flashlight into the screen, not directly but find the best angle to the screen and take a look very closely when the monitor is off. If you can see the icons (Power on both cpu and monitor), there will be a minor problem. Like me, I can see window image using flashlight and check lamps inside. Some of them were broken and it can be easily replaced. If you cannot see any icon on the screen. I would say that there are some problems with inverter board. If you have soldering tool and want to fix it by yourself, check the caps first. It may cause this problem. Some caps might show leaking or burning spot on the board because of too high temp. If you don't have soldering tool, you better go get a technician to do so.

My VX924 did the same thing but now displays nothing and power switch light just blinks. According to an answer listed on previous page, it may have bad capacitors. I may have to take a look at them. Viewsonic repair facility examination of this monitor runs $70.

My Viewsonic VX924 monitor is not working on the DVI input. Have checked output from graphics card output and lead on another monitor, ok. When digital input selected, screen goes blank then reverts to...

Open the monitor, examine the circuit boards. Look for small components that look like small cans, these are capacitors. If you see any that look bulged on top, then your problem can probably be solved by replacing these. Check out the following sites;

No power - suddenly went dead, no green or orange power light.There is mains power at the monitor's power input socket.

Check all caps in power supply. Look for the tops of the caps to bulge. Replace any that looks or smell bad, like a sulfur smell. Make sure you put them in the right way. I usually increase a cap that blows. If its a 16v I go to a 25v or a 25v to 35v. keeping the same ufd. Because of the surge, off and on, It helps.

Hi...there,
It's seems you got a defective DVI card. Try using a VGA cable instead. Have nice day!
