The spring goes under the little plate that is held in by two tiny screws. Its visible when the phone is open vertically with the plastic cap removed from the hinge. Hope this helps. I took my hinge apart after I dropped it and the top half came off... now it's just holding by the ribbon so I'm going to order a new hinge. Verizon is completely useless. They don't want to even know about you if you're phone isn't under warranty and I have 11 months till an upgrade...
one of the problems with the flip phones is they are very easily broken at the hinges. try taking out the battery and then restarting it. there are several very tiny wires that go through the hinges, and if one of them is broken, not much you can do unless you are very good with cells. only a shop could fix, unless you have insurance on your phone. if not...... new phone.....argggg
You need to march right back to Verizon and demand a new phone. If you do a search on the internet, there are multitudes of people with the exact same broken hinge problem. This is a design defect and should be replaced no questions asked. Verizon knows about this problem. I had my phone less than 6 months when my right hinge just broke...no dropping or other damage. I went in and they replaced it free of charge - because they knew about the problem. That was just a month ago and my right hinge broke again today...one month later. I am going to demand a new phone or they will be facing a class action law suit. Who ever told you this had to be filed with insurance and that you have to pay $50 did not know what they were talking about. Do what I am going to do and print off all of the complaints and present them to Verizon.
My razor broke about 1/2 year ago and im with verizon and they said their not making them anymore.. so i got a newer razor... I experienced the same problems and they got fixed when i got a new phone for free..
