1) Make sure the correct SmartCable type is selected in Setup/SmartCable
2) The SmartCable transmitter should be 6 to 8 inches form the VCRs IR
receiver. You may have to experiment to find the best position.
3) If you are using an 006 SmartCable, be sure to move the switch on the
SmartCable to the training (rear) position to train, and then back to the
normal (forward) position.
4) There's a little home test you can try to determine if the Smart Cable
is faulty. Place the infrared sensor in front your camcorder. Place
your camcorder in the 'camera' mode. In Studio 400 got to Setup/VCR, and
select any of the pre-created VCR profiles. Go to Make Tape mode and
click any of Studio 400s VCR transport buttons
When looking at the infrared transmitter through the camcorder's view
finder, you should see the infrared sensor blink. If you see it flash,
then the SmartCable is
working properly, if it does not, then the cable is faulty.
5) It may be necessary to adjust the SmartCable IR frequency. There is a
small screw located beneath a hole in the SmartCable IR head. First mark
to present position of the screw. then turn it 1/8 of a turn and test
again. Repeat until you find the best position.
