I have the very same problem that both my deep fryers light come on but it does not heat up. I not sure but I think it is the thermostatic if you disconnect the power cable and turn the thermostatic all the way up it will heat up until it reach the maximum temperature it will cut off then it will not reheat when the temperature fall below the temperature setting. Otherwise unplugging the power core from the unite will at lease cause it to heat just a little or fix the problem. I have the very same problem that both my deep fryers light come

Will this heat up at all. Is it the same Model # as the one you .have some changes from the one you have for 2 years ago might have been made. check model # and make sure it is the same The light that go's out might be when the unit come up to the setting you put you Thermostat on meaning it heated up and will come back on when the temp drops and it starts to heat back up. it's that simple. if you just got this unit it should work if you turn the heating setting up . Let me know if the unit heats that is the starting point.
You can use a jumper wire to test the valve. The voltage is LESS than 1 volt so do not worry. Imperial fryers usually use a robershaw gas valve. the 2 outside terminals...left and right.... are where the thermostat connects. Using a jumper wire after the pilot is lit will tell you if the valve is good or if it's the thermostat. You can also use a multimeter and check the continuity of the thermostat.
Hey guys I fixed my problem...yay. All I did was to push a red button which I beleive is a resset button on the back of the on/off button part. It ain't visible but if you look in the holes of the screws that hold this part together (they are far down in the hole) one of them hides a small red button. Push it down with a toothpick or anything small enough to fit the hole and you're done. Plug it back and it works.
