Where do i start with the electrical problems on my 2003 tiburon. My parking lights started to just stay on or flicker on and off killing my battery, to where i had to start leaving them on permanately to ''trick'' the system. My right power lock just stopped working and also my speakers randomly start crackling really loud and make some weird loud noises, sounds like they are going to explode. Then just today my speakers crackled once, then the sound cut out completely to where i could still hear bass coming out of the sub in the back but no music or words...I have been told most electrical problems are caused by a bad BCM ( body control module)...so does anybody have any advise on where i can buy a new one for cheaper than a dealer?..i know that if your really skilled you can soder the relays in and out, but i definately am not and dont want to fry my whole system, and also have no junk yards that just have tiburons laying around to pick a used one of these up...please help..thanks!

I've had my '03 Tib's BCM replaced 3 times now. If you have the chip-in-key factory security feature, you can't use a second-hand BCM because it's programmed to your specific key.

I'm not aware of any cases where the BCM caused the speakers to crackle, but the parking light thing definitely sounds like the BCM.

The crackle in the speaker system has to do with a fried amplifier. The '03 Tiburon GT that I owned and bought new had an issue with a bad seal around the rear window. This allowed water to get into the car and it got onto the amp and killed it. To fix the crackle, you will need to get your amp replaced.

Hello Kimberly 210,

I looked up your ignition to assure MYSELF your
key ... is indeed a standard TRANSPONDER.
(no idea what country we are talking about...??)

That type of response SEEMS to be a SECURITY
response... As though ONE of your keys is in trouble...

(TRANSPONDER KEYS can be damaged & intermittent) ...

My best advice is to get on eBay and find yourself
a COUPLE of NEW uncut OEM key replacements...

Shop around and find out if you have a cooperating
locksmith who will cut and code the keys for you...

The BEST price I've paid was $6 per key cut...
The worst was $60..
(they ruined my OEM key and sold me a generic
(I felt it was deliberate.. my OPINION)).

IN ANY CASE: If you wait until the key goes bad a DEALER CAN GET (page 120, 3-10 owners manual)
from $300 to $600 for full key service AND that
IS NOT INCLUDING the tow charges.

Some cars allow you (the owner (nothing found))
to code the keys yourself...

but you CANNOT do it WITHOUT at least TWO (2)
WORKING KEYS...

Sorry... I don't know TIBURON specifics

All exterior lights run through a body control module on the left side of the dash. Inside the body control module there is a relay that might be sticking. You might need to replace the body control module to fix the problem.

Same as above....plus more

Go to www.hmaservice.com and register( Vehicle by VIN). Afterward, you have access to shop manuals, service bulletins, wiring diagrams, etc. about your vehicle.Take/Tow your vehicle to an authorized Hyundai dealership and pay the diagnostic fee... they will tell you exactly what the problem is and the cost of parts/labor to fix it... at least this way you'll know what the problem is and what's required to fix it.

2000 Hyundai Tiburon will not start

There is NO possible electrical cause (within REASON) which would create the problem you describe. I assume you tried the Keyless Entry Remote to DIS-ARM the anti-theft system. If the ALARM system was activated, it will stay activated until it's de-activated by the remote (typical design feature). The best SOLUTION is to take vehicle into Hyundai an have the problem diagnosed.

My parking lights and hazard lights do not turn off

i had the same problem, well my right turb signal stayed on all the time and i had to pull the fuse. the BCM under your dash is bad. the BCM is where all your fuses are plugged into. you can find one online for about $700ish. go to hyundaihouseofpower.com or newtiburon.com and they might help you. 03 tiburons have bad luck when it comes to the BCM. change it out and your problems will be solved.also look on ebay.
