My 2002 Saturn Vue stuck in a gear

Make sure the transmission is at the correct level. May need to service the transmission. Take it to a transmission shop for advice.

Could be master cylinder, clutch slave cylinder, or bad clutch. There is a plastic piece at the end of the clutch or shifter linkage that often fails at the transmission.
Can you see the shifter linkage from under the vehicle or interior under console to determine if the linkage is physically connected?

The owner says it will not move and it is the transmission that needs to be replaced. Itwill start and run but when in gear it will not move. Is this a ... 99 SL1 Manual won't go into gear

Could be your clutch slave cylinder,here's how to replace.

Kindly tell us whether your engine starts up properly to idle . If yes , then your problem is with the transmission system or with the clutch plates . If the clutch plates are too empty , the gear would be almost stuck . If the car is in N-neutral , try pushing it and while moving slightly try to change the gear . Engine oil and transmission oil should be checked up regularly .
At present situation you will have to have your gear system unjammed or opened up by a professional and have your gear box replaced or checked for jammed gears which is pretty time consuming and difficult job . Else you will have to replace the clutch plates and youre ready to fly again .

I had a similiar problem and actually my gear changer in the car was getting hard to move and eventaully stuck.turns out the gear changer was only moving the gears part way and created a wierd sound.Anyway my mechanic found a new gear changing mechanism and installed it .Since then no problems---thank God.

You have a slave cylinder for this trans. Pump the clutch pedal 25 times with the engine OFF. Then start it and try shifting it into each gear while parked. If this make it work your slave cylinder needs to be replaced

i have a saturn vue too is your trannny a cvt(sealed unit) or do you have a dipstick to check your fluid level. the cvt is a very bad tranny mine just went on me at 140000 just one day it didnt want to move and gm doesnt want to cover it have it looked at good luck

remove the panel from the inside then reach down and move the lever with a long screwdriver

Check the cable clips at the trans. Sometimes these clips come out and won't shift. Horseshoe clips that hold the cable housing.
