WHINING SOUND

More likely it is the color wheel this set uses---it is located inside the optical engine---part number for it:

267888This part is no longer available from RCA but is available on several sites on the internet (google the part number)

The wheel will when going bad sometimes make a fan like noise or even a high pitched whine.

Check out the sites on the net that sell this for price and decide if you want to attempt to replace it or if you have to have a shop do it for you.

Let me know if you have any questions or need advice.

How to replace rca color wheel

Its fairly easy. Remove the back of the TV. You'll need torx head screwdrivers as RCA uses them exclusively on their TVs. The color wheel is mounted on the light engine to the left of the lamp assembly and has three screws holding it in place. There are also two connectors which have to be undone. You may have to transfer them from the old to the new one. On rare occassions, an alignment of the wheel speed is necessary. If that's the case, you'll need to contact an RCA authorized service center to have this done.

Need color wheel

Unfortunately, the color wheel for this model has been discontinued by the manufacturer. So you would have to check every distributor to see if they have any left in stock. Part # is 271917. Here's a link so you can see this part's current NLA status and get an idea of pricing:
