If you are using a firewall disable it there
is a wireless toggle switch on the side of your laptop. It slides back
and forth to turn your wireless card on and off. It has a little
wireless symbol next to it, and you should NOT see red. If you see red
showing, it means that the wireless adapter is turned off. Slide the
adapter to the ON position, and then try to repair your wireless
connection. Hope this helps
When you connect it to wireless make sure you go into control panel / network view your connection right click on local area network connection choose disable then connect to your wireless connection. Right click your wireless icon by your clock choose connect to wireless network or view available local wireless connection.
I have a tx 1000 with pretty much the same problem. Short answer is : if you are still under warrenty demand that hp replace the entire unit (basically they put together a lousy design, it doesn't allow for adequate ventilation and consequently the motherboard cooks itself and other components attached to it. swapping out parts will only briefly "fix" the problem. the simplest cheep fix is to get a usb wifi adapter and connect with that (untell eventually the machine will cease to boot, lights will come on fans will run but nothing else will happen) and you like me will not only be the proud owner of a really cool looking paperweight but also will never consider buying anything from HP again.
Hi, there is a wireless toggle switch on the side of your laptop. It slides back and forth to turn your wireless card on and off. It has a little wireless symbol next to it, and you should NOT see red. If you see red showing, it means that the wireless adapter is turned off. Slide the adapter to the ON position, and then try to repair your wireless connection. Hope this helps!
Sometimes when you bootup and the error message = "wireless connection has limited or no connection", or has a red X on the wireless icon, it is because the router has not issued an IP address to the wireless card. Right click on the wireless connection and then click Repair. If this doesn't work then reboot the router then the laptop, this should fix the problem
Usually, new laptops now have a toggle switch for wifi. It means you have to switch your wifi ON so that it will start receiving signal and transmitting data to your router. Just locate your wifi switch and turn it ON.
The wireless card has dropped the IP address, to get the wireless router to issue the wireless card with a new IP address, right click on the wireless connection (the one with the red X) and left click on Repair.
When the red X disappears then you can connect to the Internet.
I have an HP Pavillion dv9000, but they are similar.
Now if you are moving the Wireless switch on and off and the light stays red on both sides you probably have a dud of a wireless card. I had the same issue with mine at one point, what I did was get a hold of tech support, they mailed me a box with a prepaid shipping label to send them my laptop. They put in a new wireless card and shipped it back for free(of course it was still under warranty).
If you recently purchased this laptop you can usually log onto www.HP.com, go to the support section and do the chat with an HP tech or call 800-HP invent or 800-474-6836 24/7 and they will walk you thru the whole process.
But again just from your description, you have a dead air card. Call or online hp and have them fix it for you, especially if its still under warranty. If its not under warranty, then hit me back and i can give you a step by step on how to open up the laptop yourself and replace the card
A friend of mine brought me this problem with exactly the same problem. here is what I found. The small notch in usb device socket under the mouse was malfunctioning. If you press this notch you will find the mouse red light blink. If you further try pressing this notch at some point the mouse red light comes on constantly. Thats it, hold it there and try to connect first by pressing the usb device connect switch and then the mouse connect switch. The moment the connection is made the usb device stops blinking and the red light on the mouse starts blinking. Wow, it works now. Some one might just open the mouse and fix this microswtich for a permanent solution.
